Governor Ron DeSantis, First Lady Casey DeSantis, and Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo appeared together on Thursday at Palm Beach State College, unveiling the latest round of the state’s Healthy Florida First food-testing initiative, releasing new findings that show several widely sold bread brands contain high levels of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.
Independent lab testing commissioned by the Department of Health found what the state described as “triple-digit” glyphosate levels in several high-volume bread brands, including Nature’s Own Butter Bread, Nature’s Own Perfectly Crafted White, Wonder Bread Classic White, and Sara Lee Honey Wheat. Other breads, including Sara Lee Artesano White and Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse White, showed no detectable glyphosate. Dave’s Killer Bread tested low compared to other brands.

S**t!
That some bakers have a problem with some but not all of their bread makes decision making even more difficult.
Is there any chance they also tested flour in grocery stores?

I really dig what Florida has been doing lately with testing and reporting on widely used foods.
Wish my state would take a hint.

As long as Bunny bread is not on the list I think I'm good.
ETA: Do they even have Bunny bread in Florida?

triple digit what, exactly?
the unit matters a lot when discussing toxicology, and the fact that they left out the unit and just said "triple digit" to scare people should make anyone question this story.

California is by far the leader in this and has been for many years.

Probably keeps the bread from getting moldy.
I've noticed that some bread doesn't ever get mold, even when it gets weeks old. Been wondering why?

They oughta highlight it better. It’s an awesome public service for one and for two it would be something positive to share for the state.

The other thread showed the "high levels" of contamination to be a few parts per billion.
The use of immunohistochemistry to detect truly minute portion of contamination is mind boggling

That’s a great point. I remember when I was a kid bread would get moldy pretty quickly.
I also notice that mosquitos avoid me and the ones that bite me drop dead. So maybe there’s a benefit.

Listen, a little roundup in the diet never hurt anyone. Just like anything else you have take it in moderation.

They'd rather highlight their wars on traditional family and fossil fuels instead.

A reason I only buy bread from Aldi. It does go moldy and pretty quickly as well. Their artisan loaf of sourdough is not only really good but will turn to a big lump of pure green within 7-8 days. Have to grub mass sammies and commit when you buy a loaf

Not if you buy this:
quote:
Dr. Ladapo told the audience that glyphosate exposure “doesn’t seem to have a safe level,” pointing to research showing effects on gut health, the blood–brain barrier, and metabolic function
The units don't really matter if there's no agreed upon safe level. We are all the guinea pigs.

Pepperidge Farm Remembers... not to put glyphosate in your bread.

I thought they removed glyphosate from Roundup, but apparently it was only the home use version

Yeah I just looked at the report.
And just FYI, all the MRL (Maximum Residue Limits) in crops are in ppm.

Aldi's makes a Dave's bread knockoff that is nearly half the price but just as good.
