I am guessing they have found the pro-gambling addiction bent has netted more viewers than lost.

This ill be the first Super Bowl that I won't watch. I did not watch a single playoff game and I have not missed it at all.

If you aren’t gambling, how does gambling make it unwatchable?

Easy enough to avoid it. Subject was pretty clear in the thread title.

I don't think you're using that phrase correctly.

When the Super Bowl came to town, it was a massive party. Here it is Super Bowl week and I haven’t spent two minutes looking up anything related to the Super Bowl.

Don’t even care about the teams, hope they both lose, couldn’t care less about the commercials, and the halftime show can go straight to hell.

I mean I can see why you might feel that way, however, the NFL is stronger than it has ever been. By any measure, it's about as successful as a business can be. More money, higher ratings, higher team valuations, expanding global footprint.

One day that may change but I can see why the owners would feel pretty damn good about the NFL today.

You idiots made all the same arguments here on the poliboard 10 years ago during the whole kneeling fiasco.

The league revenue has more than doubled since

Enjoy pretending to get excited about a shitty Kid Rock show.

The last I remember wishing I would have watched the Super Bowl was that one time there was a wardrobe malfunction.

These days though you’re more likely to see some dudes dress malfunctioning followed by commercials for aids medication, love is love, and he gets us programmed messaging. I really don’t understand why people don’t want to watch anymore.

Welcome to the club. I have been saying this for decades. The NFL in their desire to squeeze every single penny possible, are sacrificing the long term for a short term gain.

The NFL will not go anywhere soon. But their reach will start to shrink over time. And the way that works is the slope gets steeper and steeper. When half of your friends no longer give a crap about football half of the remainder will see that football is only "important" if views make it important.

Extreme example, who would watch the NFL if there were zero people in the stands and you knew you were the only one on the planet watching?

I think you mean they found the golden goose.

Gambling is one of the worse addictions to break. Go to any casino, and you'll see all them retirees gambling away their SS checks.

I just don't care about it anymore. The kickoff sucks, the softness of the rules. Its just not the same product. I will likely watch some of the Super Bowl because it's an excuse to party and I like to do that, but I just don't care anymore.

Another great example of this board being out of touch with reality

How is this true in anyway? They are massively profitable and continue to grow.
