Most likely this. It’s still a good opportunity for him to go through the interview process though - as long as he doesn’t become the next Rooney default interviewee like Bieniemy was.

He played in Miami, so they might be doing him a solid. Getting him the exposure of a potential HC, going through the interview, etc.

3 years older than Tomlin was when he got hired as HC in Pittsburgh. 6 fewer years of coaching experience though.

He needs more time and maybe seasoning under a defensive Head Coach. Patience is the toughest when your destination is so close.

When it’s all said and done , Kelvin will be a high successful coach in the NFL or Power 4 conference. Smart guy, does things the right way, highly respected, and an extremely hard worker. His work ethic has always been second to none. Likewise, he has always been known as a smart player that understands what offenses are trying to do to a defense.

Not sure he's ready
NFL hasn't seemed to care lately. Lots of organizations are taking flyers on guys with very little experience

I don’t think he’s ready yet, but I feel like he’s going to get that chance eventually. Hope he uses it to prep for when he’s serious.

All the young man needs is a professional haircut

college and NFL are completely different worlds from each other.
being an NFL assistant for his entire career will have him much more prepared to be a head coach in the NFL than college at this point.

Got their one out the way. No way he’s ready for head coaching position. Good for him for accepting the interview though. He will get there eventually
