When I was in logistics awhile back One of my drivers was from outside there. Used to complain about the Somalis all the time and said it didn’t used to be like that. But just like anywhere else once you get out the city it’s decent folk for the most part.
Major Cities have become our countries cesspools.

My parents used to live in a suburb of Minneapolis back in the day (2002). It was really nice. We went to the big mall, and it was nice and clean. Now, I don't even think I would change planes in that airport.

Yes.
Not many Somalia's back then (2007-2009) Mostly Durka - Durkas.
I did get the feeling most times walking through the Mall of America that I was in a foreign country.
No real problems though like today.
If you get out of the Cities it's a great place to live, like most places.
ETA. Elk River was beautiful back then. No clue what it look like today.

I have a lot of people in Minnesota.
Most everyone I know in the cities lives out in the suburbs by the lake. They’ve all either moved out of state or have not been into Minneapolis more than once or twice in the last five years.
The north shore of Lake Superior and the boundary waters are truly one of the great spots in the country and I35 has bypasses to get you around the twin cities.

I visited Minneapolis during the summer about 7 years ago and I don't recall it being anything near what's been talked about. It was a very nice and clean city and I enjoyed my stay. The beer was excellent.

Enjoy your downvotes. You deserve them for this alone.

Lived in St. Paul for 16 years. Only went there because the job offer was too good. They have to pay a premium for you to live in that frozen wasteland for 6 months of the year.
Anyway, it's very liberal. I was one of a handful of conservatives at my workplace, which was unionized to the point of communism. We didn't venture into Minneapolis very much because it was even more radical liberal.
On the interstate drive into Mpls, you pass by an ugly high-rise we dubbed Little Mogadishu, a Somali beehive teeming with those folks.
Made a few friends at work, but their liberalism eventually turned me off. They are blind to what they see, close-minded to any dissenting opinion and walk in lockstep with the most radical elements of the Democrat Party. They really are the California of the Midwest.
We escaped before all the rioting and burning occurred and are happy to be back in a saner part of the country, the deep south.

all the people I know that lived in Minnesota had moved to Alaska.
When I asked them why, they stated "weather and outdoor activities are like Minnesota, but at least we can see mountains"

Just visited a couple times. The Somilias are rude as shite and act better than everyone. It was wild to see.

Met a really based guy on a fishing trip at a remote lake in northern Ontario about 6 hours north of the border who was from Minneapolis. He builds cell towers for a living. Really great guy with an awesome cabin ( wood stove sauna), but I’m guessing there’s a reason he spends all his spare time 6 hours north in the middle of nowhere.

2010-2013
Outside of Minneapolis it’s about as normal as place as there is. Nice people who are neighborly and normal.
By the time I left in just three years I saw Minneapolis and St Paul change. There were already far too many Somalis but by 2013 many major public places around the city looked like the population of a third world country- places like the Mall of America was like someone dropped a 1st world shopping complex into a third world hell hole. Security guards were Somali. Men would borderline abuse their wives and children out in the open and nothing would be done.

Yes, dummy, a lot of people have including me on Summit Avenue in St. Paul from August 1979 until August 1982.
It was great back then. The people felt just like home to me.
I rode the city buses a good bit, and they were clean and orderly, and no threats at all.
Because of my southern accent, whenever I spoke, the bus would get quiet because everyone was listening to me. It seemed like they didn’t get out that much.
I made friends that I still keep in touch with today.
I walked to work in the afternoon and walked back around midnight and never had any issues or was intimidated by anything.
The only minorities that I observed were blacks. At the time there were 50,000 blacks in the state and 30,000 of them were in Minneapolis.
There were no racial issues however government benefits were in abundance. It seemed.
It really was one of the best eras of my life. And I cherish those memories.
It saddens me to think of how much it has deteriorated.

I had a 3 month assignment in a little burg called Victoria, a few miles east of Minneapolis. It was a pleasant place and the woman I worked with invited me along with her husband to a shooting range. That was a pleasant surprise.
