Was Brad Davis that bad? I seriously thought that in 2026 these guys would ply their trade in the Sun Belt or American Conference. Something is way off. Maybe measurables is what matters most? Curne, Adams, Echols, and Williams are miles away, aren’t they?

We’re about to learn the truth of Brad Davis. It’s gonna be the biggest 9 inch pill we’ve ever had to swallow.

it was Sloan's scheme, IMO.

How is this surprising to anyone? Almost all of these guys were 4 star and 5 star recruits. Really elite schools were after damn near all of them out of highschool. Misevaluation might work on 1 or 2 guys, but the entire room? Davis wasn't developing these guys a lick. It was obvious before and even more so now.

The same scheme that 99% of CFB uses. It was execution, talent, and a lack of physicality. Davis had a soft room.

Most of them were highly sought after and heavily recruited coming out of highschool. I'm guessing the teams they went to are hoping to be able to tap some of that potential and make them serviceable linemen. If not starters, they'd make good depth pieces.

ETA - they're also probably betting it was system/scheme related and lack of coaching, which would be very hard to argue against.

I have to assume he was. I was really hoping they would stay on, but I understand wanting a new start. Teams simply don’t manage to misevaluate an entire line’s worth of 4* and 5* talent lol.

So coach hashtag, please explain what was deficient in Sloan's scheme as opposed to those running games which were more successful. Rushing attempts are designed for the back to run throuhg a handful of locations. Regardless of what is called it is incumbent upon the linemen to execute certain blocks based upon the intnded point of attack and the positioning of the defender they are responsible to block. Since you claim the problem is Sloan's scheme please justify your opinion.

Learn the song that is sung by every coach signing a 5* lineman failure:

When you try your best and you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what they need
When your feet so slow that they can't sweep
Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face
'Cause your team lost yards they can't replace
When you try to block but it's all a waste
What could be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Thats typically what this board does... convince themselves that outgoing players arent good enough, processed, etc.

Bad coaching + bad scheme = bad offense

I think the truth is that they're all solid players that received very poor coaching and played in a scheme that was very unfriendly to offensive linemen from a run blocking perspective. They're all great physical specimens, so why not take a shot on them if you're an SEC team and trust your coaches?

you could make a case that those are pure development issues that still have potential

Chester might be the only departure from the unit I can say with certainty is awful and does not belong on this level.

Look, coaching makes a difference for sure, but these guys themselves contributed to our worst O-line in history. The endless huge false starts, the constant whiffing, etc. Those are things that shouldn't require excellent coaching to keep to a minimum. Yes, the coaching was clearly bad, but I'm not sure all of these guys will magically turn into world beaters.
