My children are gone so those days are over but I love reading the thread. Have I missed it or it hasn’t started yet?

The board is either too old that their kids are grown or don’t have any custody

Have a bicycle for my daughter this year. Not too bad. Haven’t opened the box yet so idk how in depth it will be. Figure it won’t be too bad

I miss putting toys together in the garage into the wee hours of Christmas morning.

My 3 year old has been obsessed with jumping on beds, couches, even just hopping along on the floor for the last few months. What can I say, this dude found his passion and has embraced it
I bought him a little 6' trampoline with a safety net and basketball goal attachment for Christmas, and couldn't wait until tomorrow morning. I assembled it while he was napping earlier today and he's probably jumped for over an hour solid at this point
He loves it so far

my kids are 20 and 25. They'll wake up to a nice Zelle deposit tomorrow lol

The last couple of years I’ve been surprised that everything has arrived mostly built. Remembering to unbox the gift and charge it for eight hours seems to have become the most important Xmas wildcard.

Planned on waking up around 4am to put a wooden swing set/playground together

I took the advice from the boyfriend in that other thread and told the kids Santa isn't real. Now I don't have to worry over that shite.

I’m building a cedar playhouse. Fortunately it doesn’t have to be ready until early next week, because none of the corners in this SOB are square.

That's when you take an angle grinder to the framing square.

Was just thinking about this thread and yearly tradition. Always fun staying up late with the other late night builders.
Tonight I have nothing to put together, wife in the bedroom wrapping everything and sitting on the couch watching Die Hard. Going to have to figure out how to get the middle one off the Xbox at some point and the high schooler is in his room but I suspect he will want some sort of late night snack.
We will see how we can get the presents under the tree at a reasonable hour

This is risky. Some of those are stupidly hard to put together with how they’re designed.
How mad will your wife be if you’re accidentally drunk at 6 am?

Cheers to not having to assemble a playhouse with or a kitchen play set with 2000 stickers
I definitely put a princess carriage together backwards a couple years ago and I’ll never live it down. Thing was a nightmare.
It was worth every minute tho. Time has flown since then

Back when my daughter was about 6 my wife got her an 'easy bake' oven(or some cheap copy) and of course I waited until near midnight to put it together.
and btw - instructions are for the weak at heart
I spent a couple of hours on it - doing good I thought - then found out that I hadn't performed the critical first step. Had to disassemble and start over.

Waiting for kids to go to sleep. Still have to put together some double egg swing. Shouldn’t take but an hour or two tops. Probably get started around 11-11:30.
ETA: Started at 11:00 sharp. Chinese m’fer didn’t have even one piece of paper in the box for directions. Looking at picture is all I had to go by. Hour and a half later all assembled. By the time I carried that heavy bastard into the house trying to maneuver and avoiding knocking over shite and then putting out all the presents that I wrapped it was 3 am before I went to bed. Forgot I had two outdoor hanging teepee looking tents to assemble. Those weren’t bad at all. Kids woke me up at 6 am sharp. Just woke up from an hour nap and about to eat Christmas lunch.

I’m still trying to get mine to sleep. But no put together items this year. We got him a new art desk but told him that was a mom and dad present and put it together today.
I thought it was doing great until I realized I have to still wrap 20 presents for him tonight whenever the hell he falls asleep.
