104.5 is posting the odds that freeman is now the favorite to land the NY Giants HC job.
What a blow that would be to ND.
Marcus Freeman 1/2 (-200)
Mike McCarthy 5/1
Chris Shula 5/1
Klint Kubiak 9/1
Mike Kafka 9/1
Jeff Hafley 10/1
Joe Brady 12/1
Steve Spagnuolo 12/1
Jon Gruden 25/1

Brian Kelly is availlable.

Know a coach that knows a thing or two about South Bend.

If true, this has been the funniest month or so between the melts of Ole Piss and the softness of ND
Posted on 12/9/25 at 3:50 pm to LSUbub12
Tommy Rees would be next up
Posted on 12/9/25 at 3:55 pm to LSUbub12
I think that would be a poor decision by both parties

There’s an opening for President of my company and I’m pretty Gruden has 100/1 odds of landing that too. Dudes name pops up for everything lol

I mean Freeman just saw his team reel off 10 straight and still miss the playoff, competitor in him might see the bullshite and just go where things are less subjective

That's a very weak pool of options, IMO.
The unknown in Freeman seems like the best option...but it could end in disaster. McCarthy? Spagnuolo? Gruden?
Shula probably is the hottest of the group.
Kafka is a joke.
The shine seems to be off of Brady...maybe unfairly.

Wow that is a pretty uninspiring list of candidates. Feel for Giants fans lol

That would be interesting to say the least

Top 5 college HC salary (what they'd offer Freeman if he was considering walking) is $11m-13m
Average NFL HC salary is ~$6-7m
Freeman has never coached in the NFL, in any capacity. He only spent one year in the NFL as a player, entirely on practice squads (2009)
Both parties would be insane for considering this

Didn't he supposedly turn down the Bears last year? Why would he take the Giants job, this year?
This sounds like nothing more than his agent floating his name to get Notre Dame to give him a big raise and/or more resources.

College coaching is miserable besides the money. No time off, constant roster fluctuation, no rules or regulations. You still make a lot of money in the NFL without all of the bad stuff you deal with in college.
