I hope 30 teams opt out of bowl games

They asked for this shite, now they got it. It’s spiraling out of control

Agreed. Bowl games have been garbage for years.

I’d rather watch a shitty bowl game more than any other sport in December and January. More football this time of year is better than less football.

I don't. I enjoy watching bowl games.

So do most people, as the ratings have proven year in and year out.

With the portal and NIL money, it doesn't make sense for some of these higher profile athlete's to play in a non-playoff bowl game.

This 10000%. I would watch Middle Tennessee play in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl against Arkansas Pine Bluff. Why? Because I love the sport and I enjoy a good game even if it’s between two nothing teams.
The pleasure of being a College football fan is that you are rewarded during the Holiday’s with wall to wall football in every way shape and form. I feel we have forgotten about that.

Asked for what? Notre Dame not being in a conference....not making the playoffs and tucking tail because they didn't get their way?
ACC should have had a better way of deciding who plays for the championship in the event of a tie. AAC goes with CFP ranking.
Had ACC done something similar you would have 2 10 win teams playing for the championship and likely JMU or Tulane being left out.

That sport doesnt exist anymore. Now we have semi pro NFL.

Basically, everything but the playoffs is being devalued.
Will be interesting to see how College Football evolves or devolves over the next decade.

agreed give us a 16 team p4 playoff and an 8 team g5 playoff and that’s it

will be 32 teams sooner than any of us expect/want

Not enough games for sponsors. If they eliminate bowls both playoffs will be bigger. g5 should be all on campus games.

Wish teams would only play their non-Pro bound Seniors. Just every guy knowing it’s more than likely their last game. Leave it all out in the field.
Posted on 12/7/25 at 5:02 pm to TechDawg2007
Exhibition games are meaningless. I’d get rid of all of them.

Who asked for it? College football fans as a whole had been clamoring for a bigger playoff for a long time. It’s the fault of the fans as much as anyone. Always all kinds of crying about so and so team getting left out of the playoffs.
Now the college football regular season which was the greatest, most intense regular season in all of sports is diminished and conference championship games are an inconvenience to teams and aren’t worth playing.
Way to go guys, keep up the good work. Have any more good suggestions?

I can enjoy watching a game between two teams I don't care or know anything about, just to watch the game itself without any emotions or predictions.
shite, I'll probably go to some Houston Gamblers games next year. It's football.

I have more fun figuring out which players are going to suit up and not opt out, than I have watching the bowl my team is in.

There may be an evolution to revenue based divisions.
Top 64 by revenue form a division.
They would have a salary cap and minimums for coaches and players.

Used to look forward to bowl season. Blame Bama on this. This movement all started after Bama got their mulligan against LSU when they didn't even make their own conference championship game and 2 years later the playoff was born and gradually players started opting out and now schools. I will always blame Bama for this. Screw Mulligan U.
