allows for conference championship games, big interconference games during the season, gets non-power five in without guarantee.
allows for teams who develop into top teams to get in as well.

Where do you morons come from?
In what universe do you look at college football right now and think the answer is to add more games to an already bloated field?

There are already too many teams. Teams with 3 losses shouldn’t be playing for a Natty.

16 would and should be the max if they expand. But whatever number they go to. Even if 16, then 17-20 will start bitching.
FWIW, I personally don't think they should expand.

6 max and could go back down to 4. Too many teams now

exactly.
8 would be plenty, but we know they aren't going to reduce the amount unfortunately.

12 is too many. Do you not remember how bad the games other than asu/Texas were until the semis?

And then teams 25&26 complain about exclusion. It’ll probably end up being like the MBB field of 64++ at some point, with the likes of the Pop Tart Bowl being a playoff game.

8 teams are the maximum of teams that should be in the CFP and can realistically win the National championship.
Unlike the NFL, college athletes have the school factor to deal with (Semester starting, ending, quarter system, etc.)

8 is more than enough. There aren’t even that many teams each year that truly deserve to play for a national championship.
The 12 teams is only there now so there will always be a way to gyrate Alabama and Notre Dame in.

Imagine having a 4/5 loss team fighting over the 20-24th spot.

It's not that difficult. Make winning your conference a requirement for winning a national championship. That makes the entire regular season something to play for.
All 9 Conferences get 1 team (Pac 12 and Independent don't get in-go find a real conference to play in). That means the "tournament" starts with 18 teams.
Take the two smallest G5 conference champions and make them play against each other to make it to the "elite 8".
From there P4 champions vs G5 champions play at the P4 schools.
For the final 4 you can play at the bowl locations (Rose Bowl, Cotton, Sugar, etc.) or high seed home field.

Sure, but then only 4 get voted into the next round.

The conference championships already indirectly act as a extra playoff round.

The playoff field needs to shrink if anything.
We don't need a bunch of 9-3 playoff teams. Even teams with loaded schedules are only playing, at most, half their games vs ranked opponents. If they can barely go .500 against quality competition, they shouldn't have much of an argument to be in the playoffs.
Sark was lobbying that they were deserving at 9-3. They played 5 ranked teams on the year and went 3-2 in those games, which would have still gotten them into the CFP if they hadn't shite the bed against 4-8 Florida.
24 team playoff would be ridiculously stupid because then you're going to have teams getting in like Michigan (0-3 vs ranked teams) and Iowa (0-4 vs ranked teams). How does it make sense to expand the playoff field to a size that would include teams with 3+ losses and zero wins against any ranked teams?

5 conference champs. 3 at-large. Then the conference championships still mean a lot because they're de-facto CFP play-in games.

12 is more than enough. There used to be 2 teams in one game. Just because Texas is mad they lost 3 games and got let out, doesn't mean we adjust. OOC games just need to be tougher than 3 shite games that don't mean anything. And these little schools that have had a run of good seasons need to try to start scheduling power 5 schools.

I want 16 teams because as of now, it’s really just top 10 make it. 11 and 12 are some scrub arse ACC and G5 team, but to ensure a CFP spot, you have to go at least 10-2 in the SEC and finish Top 10. 16 teams makes it where the top 14 get in. Expanding from 12 to 16, easily allows LSU to go 9-3 rather than 10-2.
Ohio State and LSU won nati with 2 losses. No 3 loss team has been given an opportunity to win a nati, but I think a 3 loss SEC team could once every 12 years win a Nati.

A 12-team playoff, ESD, and the portal are why college football is the shite show it is now. Lane leaving Ole Miss is only an issue because of the expanded CFP. Ole Miss would not make a 4-team. They'd barely make an 8-team.
