Would it be OK to keep Alex Atkins as OL coach?

Reportedly the Ole Miss OL coach is the only offensive staffer not coming, and God knows Brad Davis has to go. Atkins was well-respected until his promotion to OC at FSU. He also spent a few years at Tulane, so has injections in NO. This assumes Sam Pittman isn't looking for a job yet.

Personally I think we should jettison anyone and everything who had anything to do with offense. Entire staff on that side of the ball.
Frank has been here so long he could stay in a cushy position & just pitch recruits, but I won’t be crying over any staff changes on that side of the ball.
We’ve literally never produced a worse offensive unit. Ever. This was a war crime & anyone involved was complicit at minimum.

Ill be honest, other than Frank, I just want a clean slate from anybody that had anything to do with that putrid offense. If he's retained i won't throw my arms up, but I kinda want an injection of someone completely new. Ill go a step further, the OL was SO bad this year that I'm completely fine with Kiffin hiring two OL coaches. One for outside and one for inside. Lord knows the guys we have on roster will need the specialized work, they lost a whole year of development.

Guy from Miss State?
quote:
Phil Loadholt, Mississippi State's offensive line coach since December 30, 2024, transitioned from a seven-year NFL career as an offensive tackle (2009–2015 with the Minnesota Vikings, where he started 89 games and earned 2009 PFWA All-Rookie honors) to coaching. His playing background at Oklahoma (2007–2008, All-America and All-Big 12 honors protecting Heisman winner Sam Bradford) informs his trench-focused approach. Below is a chronological overview of his coaching roles, emphasizing his progression from analyst to position coach.
Year(s)
Role
Institution
Key Notes
Pre-2023
Offensive Analyst
University of Oklahoma
Served in this capacity before joining Colorado; gained expertise in offensive schemes, including those later used by MSU head coach Jeff Lebby.
2023
Offensive Line Coach (promoted from analyst role)
University of Colorado
Joined Deion Sanders' staff in December 2023 as an offensive analyst, elevated to OL coach for 2024; developed a unit that supported a 9-4 record amid roster turnover, ranking high in pass protection metrics. Reunited with Lebby here after prior overlaps.
2024 (prior to MSU hire)
Analyst (six seasons total prior to OL promotion)
Various (primarily UCF and Oklahoma)
Spent six years as an analyst, including at UCF (2019 Fiesta Bowl participant) and Oklahoma, honing film analysis and scheme implementation before full-time OL duties at Colorado.
2025–Present
Offensive Line Coach
Mississippi State University
Hired to rebuild MSU's OL after a 2-10 season; focuses on physicality, leadership, and rotation (e.g., targeting 6–8 reliable players); leverages NFL pedigree and Lebby ties for SEC-level trench dominance. Expects to integrate transfers like Blake Steen for depth.
Loadholt's career trajectory highlights rapid ascent in OL development, with emphasis on player connections and scheme familiarity—critical for MSU's 2025 rebound. His time at Colorado marked his first full position-coach role, building on analyst experience to elevate lines in high-profile programs.

the guy who couldn’t move the ball 50 yards against Oklahoma?
no thanks

Name one that guy has done that makes you think he is qualified to stay

He sure didn't do a good job here with the OL, even indirectly. Maybe Davis was so bad that it couldn't be overcome, but I don't want to chance it.
