I can’t imagine how many great movies I missed out on in my early days because I read a review by some snotty film critic instead of checking out IMDB instead.

Very serious. If I find the critics rate a movie high I know I won’t like it.

Never paid attention to the critics ratings. The audience ratings are pretty spot on though.

Popcornmeter tells the true tale.

Does “film noir” translate to black movie? Asking for a friend.

That's why you look at the crowd score, not the "critics." Everyone knows this.

It's part of my formula but it's not the end all be all when it comes to decide whether or not I'm going to go watch a movie in the theater. I use a combination of Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, and IMDB. Fact of the matter is: I refuse to pay $15 for a matinee showing at my local theater (not including concessions) for a shite movie.

I don't take anything on the Internet seriously, except Tigerdroppings.

usually if the "critics" pan it, it's probably worth a watch

Yas, this deserves its own topic, but will spare everyone. What is the deal with superhero movies these days? I refuse to watch them. I mean think about it, watching a guy with a cape flying around and saving the world.

What world do we live in where that’s good?

I do.

If the Critics score is low and the Popcorn Meter or whatever it’s called is high I know I’m fixing to watch a great movie.

Yes. I need someone to tell me if I like something or not. Same with food critics.

I use Rotten Tomatoes to know which movies aren't for idiots.

Audience score is typically garbage.

If tomatometer is strong and audience meter sucks I can usually count on taking something meaningful away from the movie.

and I havent seen one that’s was like 20% for both that was actually amazing.
