Than use money taken in to pay down the deficit.

That includes 68 percent of Republicans.

LINK

Nearly all Americans with an opinion (77% of Americans overall) approve of the Trump administration's recent decision to remove some of its tariffs on beef and other items. Only 7% disapprove; the rest (16%) are not sure. And just 9% of Americans want to see “all” of the recent tariffs “continue,” while more than three-quarters would prefer to see “all” (38%) or “some” (38%) of them removed.

When it comes to Trump’s recent affordability proposals, only the idea of "using the revenue raised by the recent tariffs to send $2,000 rebate checks” garners majority support (58%). Republicans are the most supportive (68%), but most Democrats (55%) and independents (52%) also favor the checks.

Trump’s proposal for avoiding a coming spike in health insurance premiums — putting money “into an account for people where the people buy their own health insurance” — doesn’t fare much better. After reading that subsidies that "help make health care coverage more affordable for roughly 20 millions Americans who purchase insurance though an Obamacare (ACA) marketplace" will “expire at the end of the year” — a development that will “increase premiums by 114%, on average” — more than twice as many Americans (55%) say Congress should extend the subsidies than not extend them (23%).

Once the masses realize they can vote themselves funds from the collective coffers the system starts the process of failing.

This is why no one can really fix the financial ills. There will never be public support to do financially responsible things

Yep.
It is the sort-sightedness of the American electorate making it politically expedient, indeed politically necessary, to spend and spend until we enter fiscal dominance, until we literally can spend no more. It will end up absolutely destroying the very people who presently clamor for more and more spending.

It's like a heroin addict knowing she has everything in the world going for her if she can just kick the habit. Otherwise she's knocking on heaven's door. But she can't set the smack aside. Just cannot do it. She knows the inevitable outcome. But she simply cannot help herself. So one night she takes a hit, falls asleep, a superstar, in a motel room by herself ... and they find her body the next day.

That's where we are headed. We know the inevitable outcome. But apparently we just cannot help ourselves.

This is not surprising at all. Most people would rather spend money than save it or pay debts with it.

The mindset of instant gratification and selfish attitudes is pervasive. Many don’t feel that they are responsible for the large debt, and don’t feel any responsibility for the future generations. ME, ME, ME, IS ALL I SEE.

Universal suffrage is a bad idea.

This is why I have been saying the Republican Party needs to ditch the libertarian nonsense. It’s a waste of time until the suffrage and demographic issues are corrected.

As long as we have a mass, multi-ethnic universal democracy like we have. Then the reality is it’s just a free for all for whichever political party can secure the biggest piece of the pie for their patronage network.

Thats all it is now, so the Republican Party can ditch all their Reagan and MLK talking points.

If the Thomas Massie’s of the world want to talk about debt or some issue like that. Well then they need to start with mass deportations, extreme restrictions on all immigration, and reducing the electorate to men only, that meet certain qualifications, and have proven they are contributors and are not a drag on their communities.

It’s like term limits. A lot of people in favor of them but everyone says “you go first” and nobody wants to be in the lead because they know they’ll turn around and be the only one standing there.

The only reason ANY democrat does not support it is because Trump proposed it.

Absolutely. If the House and Senate hasn't and doesn't want to drastically reduce spending... then send me my money.

If not, they will just use it to reduce the deficit and then add it back to the deficit in a year or two.

How about just giving people that actually pay taxes $2,000 refund in April.

Id Trump doesnt open his non stop blabbering mouth, this isn't the case. Everyone was happy it would go towards debt.
But if he really felt the need to have diarrhea of the mouth, he could have said 500

Someone like Rand Paul may be against big spending bills but he still votes to spend money on things he wants. Just like every member of Congress.

He wants money for x, Democrat from California wants Y. They compromise and you get x and y.

That’s how this works.

People don't understand how screwed we are. Our national debt is 40 trillion.

$2,000 checks to 150 million taxpaying citizens equals $3 billion.

If we paid $3 billion EVERY DAY on the debt, it would be 35 years before the debt was paid off.

Everyone sees what needs to be done, but NO ONE is willing to do it!
What does this tell you about our leaders?
