LK probably thought he would somehow be able to coach his current team through the end of the playoffs. Then, he would leave for his new job. With this seemingly not a possibility now, will he be able to walk away, give up this season and NOT coach his team in the playoffs? I think this may be the ONE thing that may keep him from leaving OM.

That's essentially what Chris Low said earlier today. If OM wins the egg bowl, LK won't be able to walk away

If Kiffin isn’t recruiting for LSU on December 1st, then LSU needs to move on. You can’t miss out on the portal and early signing day.

LSU needs to grow some balls and let them know this is non negotiable.

As I told a friend who’s an Auburn fan….regardless of what kiffin does if he stays the next lsu coach has to know he must win that game!
As far as the egg bowl, if state wins kiffin blew it! LSU has had 3 NC coaches ole piss? 0! There’s a reason for that! Scruggs and realtree can’t prop that program up forever.

Another buddy who’s a donor…. I have no idea how big but his dad has plenty of tickets on the 50 and he has a suite, won’t answer any text except happy thanksgiving or duck calls.

I hope whoever is the next coach understands you must beat Alabama ole miss and state! No exceptions.

Will he be able to walk away from ONE playoff appearance to go coach LSU who should be a perineal playoff factor?

Seems like an easy decision. Ol’ Piss may make the playoffs once every 3-4 years if things go their way. LSU should make the playoffs every year barring multiple injuries.

It’s not a fair trade.

It would be hard to coach a team when you can't get in the facilities. The moment he confirms he's leaving OM will lock him out and cancel his electronic access.

SEC CFB is a multi-million dollar enterprise. If you aren't in, you're out.

It depends on why he can't coach the team. If LSU or Florida is pressing him to leave before he's ready, it will push him toward staying. If it's Ole Miss that is refusing to let him coach unless he signs the extension and LSU/UF are willing to wait until OM is eliminated, then that may push Kiffin out.

It's a tough situation he is in. At the end of the day, there is a reason why he is seriously entertaining other jobs and it's because he has a ceiling at OM. He knows this. It's why he almost jumped to Auburn and now why he is looking again. Everyone can understand the desire to not want to leave your team, but if the decision is taken away from Kiffin, then he'll have to make a decision not based on wanting to be with this team, but rather with this program and that dynamic is different.

I don't think this is the right question.

It's will LK be able to sign an extension committing himself to Ole Miss for the foreseeable future (rest of the prime of his career?) as the price to pay for one season of a playoff run at a dead end school.

If he can't do that, then it won't be his choice on whether to walk.

I think he’s right. That would be very, very hard to walk away from.

Didn’t some Ole Miss deep pockets allegedly state they’d withhold any further funding if LK was back next year?

Or was that just another piece of misinformation in amongst all this guessing and sauces and whatnot of recent weeks?

I've got no sources on the Ole Miss side unfortunately but sounds like the sort of dirty tricks they're playing.

Why stop there? Let's pull an Auburn and claim ones that other teams won outright.

The unspoken truth: Ole Miss has no shot to advance any further than maybe the semi’s… and that’s a stretch probably.

If he stays at OM, it would be an emotional decision. I wonder if that changes his stock price in the future though? Would schools be leary of him given how this is playing out?
