for me. Where do they rank in relation to each other these days?
Antoine's/Arnaud's/Commander's Palace/Galatoire's
Have not been to any of these in a long long time. Time flies; I have not been in New Orleans since the 2007 championship game.
I plan to start making a trip down every now and then for various purposes, and to hit some of these places.
Am I missing any on a par with these?

Antoine's would be very last on that list. You can skip it.

i don't know if the one time we went to antoine's was an off night or what...everything we ordered was underwhelming...i had seen many people here recommend the souffle potatoes, so we tried them...they were awful...cold, undercooked and unsalted...instead of bearnaise sauce, they brought a cup of cold butter
on top of that, the waiter was kind of snotty...the best part of the experience was rick blount taking us on a tour of the building after dinner...that was pretty interesting...

We actually ate there last December, and the food was fantastic. Much better than I remember it being, and the service was great, as well. The building and history are so cool that it's still worth going. Plus, my favorite hotel in the area is the Royal Orleans, so Antoine's and Brennan's are obvious dinner spots.

1. Galatoire’s
Good food in the most festive dining atmosphere in town.
2. Commander’s Palace.
A close second. Excellent and friendly service in beautiful surroundings.
3. Antoine’s.
Most historic restaurant in town. Delicious food. Tip the server a little extra for a tour of the place.
4. Arnaud’s.
Fourth on my list but still way up there as far as a very enjoyable New Orleans dining experience. Great bar.
Brennan’s is the other classic Creole restaurant that deserves to be mentioned in this conversation. I would put it around the middle of this list.

the best thing at antoine is the shuffle potato’s which are hit or miss and the bloody mary is amazing but you can get that to go at their little bakery annex shop

This is pretty easy:
Commander's
Galatoire's
Antoine's (Ralph Paulsina sp is now the chef over there. food has improved)
Arnaud's
Commander's
Galatoire's

Arnaud's

You need to hit up Mr. B’s and get the bbq shrimp. If you leave the FQ area, Mandinas.

Best thing was Oysters Foch. They took it off the menu.

This would be my list, but you could switch the top 2 depending on personal preference

Have pre-dinner drinks and snacks at French 75 Bar attached to Arnaud's (try the Gougères), then walk around the block for dinner at Galatoire's.
