I wonder if Kiffin and Keith Carter are scheming against their own boosters.

So multiple local reporters have said LSU will be offering a substantial NIL package every year for the new coach. I wonder if all this public stuff from Kiffin in the last couple weeks is him trying to force his boosters to pony up. I would not be surprised if this was just some elaborate plan by Kiffin and Keith Carter to leverage Lane potentially leaving to get more NIL commitments. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

My wife has family from MS that are all Ole Miss alums and describe the university as “a bunch of rich white people.” But how many high powered boosters do they really have?

If this is what you guys are deciding to offer, you're about 5 years too late to the game.

Based on everything we've heard from Ole Miss people, that card has already been played. Essentially it was played in 2022 when Lane almost went to Auburn - OM ramped up their NIL commitments and the rest is history.

In terms of getting what he wants from Ole Miss he's already gotten it all. Full autonomy on and off the field, competitive NIL, one of the highest paid coaching and support staffs in CFB.

There's no more blood to pull out of the stone - sure contributions from OM boosters and fans will go up to try to get him to stay, but OM isn't becoming Texas in terms of funds out of thin air.

They managed to put together a significant transfer portal NIL commitment together last year. They have the means. My point is I wonder if Kiffin is trying to get an annual commitment to that out of their booster base.

We have a recurring NIL partnership available to players from a private airline. We've stated from the beginning that people are underestimating our NIL potential.

We've grown exponentially since offering players commission for helping sell Delta Blue Jeans(which at the time, was also ahead of the game)

I'm talking about 30 mil on top of rev share. So the NIL commitment for football would be 45-47 mil per year.

That's my understanding from multiple local reporters.

I don’t think this is the case. KC is frustrated with Kiffin and I also think Sexton is as well, this is all a Lane show. Without a looming possible CFP he would be long gone, might be the only thing keeping him at this point.

Both Mississippi and Louisiana are basically dead last in average annual income.

Damn.

$15mil/year for Kiffin
45-47/year for NIL
$50 mil buyout for BK

LSU is a significantly bigger brand than OM so it has significantly more fans, plus the school itself has a much bigger enrollment. So just on the numbers game alone LSU is going to have more wealthy boosters even if it were true that the average LSU fan isn’t as wealthy as the average OM fan.

One thing they can't get him is a stadium that seats more than 70k people.

Here’s the problem.

Ole Miss does not have a strong recruiting ground for high school talent. This means they have to get more from the transfer portal, which means they can’t miss, because if they do, they can’t supplement with an actual high. Cool recruiting ground.

LSU, Texas, Florida, Ohio State all have fertile recruiting grounds and can supplement with the transfer portal.

It’s too hard to sustain a program that depends so heavily on transfers.

Also, OM will not be able to consistently go out and buy the talent. They just won’t. It’s gonna be a situation where maybe they are good every 4-5 years but won’t be consistent contenders.

He can go to LSU and be a contender every year if he keeps a guy like Frank who can help shore up the in state recruiting. Then they supplement with the transfer portal.
