Would missing on Lane be an “egg on your face” moment for LSU’s new regime?

After the circus of firing BK and now the national attention on the Lane rumors, is the new regime’s credibility on the line to close the deal? Nationally and within the conference pecking order?

For the school? No.

For the "done deal" TD insiders on here? 100%.

Missing on Lane would be a blessing.

Nothing official has even come out that LSU is after him. I’m sure they are, but it’s all been rumor.

LSU’s AD has been tight lipped

Not any more than it would be for any other school interested.

Going for him like he's Nick Saban 2.0 is a bad look even if we wind up with him and getting him for him to underperform would be much worse

He's NFL bound in under 5 years

It will be a watershed moment. This will define what LSU looks like for the foreseeable future.

May be better to miss out on him than to grossly overpay….again

No there are other coaches that would be a great fit here at LSU and would be huge wins. We all need to understand the difference between the big flashy hire and the lower profile good hires. Both can win here at LSU. Both will bring championships. It just comes down to the best fit.

No, because Lane might be the distraction and not the target. I’m not convinced LSU really wants him.

For the sake of Landry’s political career, this hire better be a home run,

Nah, they’re trying to pull him away from Ole Miss, not Southern Miss
