If not JB, two names out so far:

Kevin Ollie (being reported by Ian Begley). Scotto reporting he is a candidate because Weaver believes in him and knows him personally

Darvin Ham (being reported by Marc Stein)

Jahmal Mosely (being reported by Jake Fischer)

They’re going to hire Willie 2.0 aren’t they?

Just keep Borrego if that’s what they’re going to do.

I wouldn't put anything past Dumars/Weaver, but this is probably just Ollie/Ham's agents getting these national reporters to push their names.

Neither Ollie nor Ham are getting "poached" before summer 2026, so what's the point of going after them now? And yes, I know that same thought process applied to the Pacers trade. Still, the Pels are going to let Borrego finish out the season and see if he can turn things around. That's both the smart option as well as the cheapest option.

Its because Weaver and Dumars are very bias towards their friends/ close contacts. Both Ham and Ollie have close connections with them. Ollie even call Weaver a Father figure

Awful awful candidates. Just keep Borrego, he would be cheaper.

If you’re not gonna go out and spend on a guy like Jenkins or Malone then just keep JB assuming he’s not a complete disaster.

Yup if I have to choose between JB and these two guys, give me JB all day everyday. At least he knows offense

He’d also be much cheaper so if you did need to fire him you could do so more easily.

Lakers fans despised Ham and he held the lakers back big time. Kevin Ollie won his title at UConn off the back of what Jim Calhoun built then proceeded to drive UConn into the ground. He gets fired and Dan Hurley turns UConn back into a powerhouse.

Ollie barely has any NBA head coaching resume. He was the interim Nets coach for like 30 game a couple years ago and they didn’t keep him around

Weaver is a bigger disaster than Dumars, but people will not acknowledge it.

He is the reason Dumars made one of the stupidest trades in sports history, but he somehow gets no blame.

He needs to be nowhere near the hiring of the next coach for this franchise.

The whole organization, players included, is just going to be a Weaver and his buddies isn't it?

Not going to complain though, I'm just glad Willie is off the bench.

All this outrage for a bunch of rumors for a job that won't be available for another 5-6 months.

Mike Scotto put out an article yesterday saying some in the organization are already questioning Dumars and Weavers moves in regards to trading the pick and the Poole trade.

quote:

While nobody could’ve foreseen a season-ending injury to Haliburton, some within the organization and executives around the league questioned why Dumars didn’t wait to finalize the deal when there was no rush before the final game of the NBA Finals.

quote:

Dumars then met with members of the staff and preached he was looking for players with intangibles such as defense, toughness, high IQ, and a high motor, league sources told HoopsHype.

Then, about an hour later, according to league sources, as part of a three-team trade with the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets, Dumars traded the expiring contracts of CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk, and a 2027 second-round draft pick to Washington. As part of the trade, Dumars and the Pelicans received Poole, Saddiq Bey, and rookie Micah Peavy. Poole is owed $34 million, and Bey is owed $6.4 million next season.

Poole’s player profile doesn’t match the description Dumars told his staff he sought shortly before making the trade. His salary was also considered a tough contract to move by rival NBA executives. However, Dumars’ right-hand man, Weaver, spearheaded that trade with his former Wizards colleagues and was a strong proponent of the Queen trade, as he knew him well, partly due to their local ties, league sources said.
