Went to a brewery last night. 3 food truck options, pizza, burgers, tacos.

Birria nachos $16. Yellow cheese out of a can.

Burger $18.99, fries cost extra

Pizza was actually the most decently priced at about $12 to what amounted to a personal pie

Weren’t the point of food trucks that you could minimize overhead and produce good food at affordable prices without locking yourself into brick and mortar? Now we got dudes out here charging twenty fricking dollars for a smash burger and wanting you to pay an extra 3 bucks for fries to go with it. What a disgrace

You charge what people are willing to pay regardless of your costs.

food trucks

For years they have been more expensive, occasionally better food, but mostly more expensive, at least where I live.

Many people try to charge too much and have to close their businesses every single day

It's a pretty vivid example of how people just get excited about following hype and trends.

Many restaurants around me in Brooklyn have both a real restaurant and a food truck.

Prices for sit down service in a nice setting are usually cheaper even with tip than the same items in smaller quantities from their food trucks that you eat from plastic with plastic.

Food trucks still probably do 3x the business as the restaurants.

There’s some pretty good food trucks in Ruston. They’re definitely not cheap though. Most of the ones here are because of how expensive rent or lease would be.

Food trucks do this in places with a captive audience, that's how they can get away with it. Same as stadium food.

ETA- also... women. The food truck is so cute, I'll pay extra reee! Insta pic of me at a cute food truck! reeeeee!

I agree with OP. It’s ridiculous. Why do brick and mortar restaurants not demanding the city level the playing field? Buildings sit empty and the food trucks could just pull up and move any given day.

Hasn't been the case in almost 20 years. Stop being a poor and get out of your mom's trailer more.

If you find the right one they have good foot, but usually not for the price they charge.

There's one a mile or so from my daughter's house in Fort Worth.

All they sell is a burger/fry/soda plate lunch $15.

Only open from 11-2 and 5-8pm.

Stays busy. Prolly about $5 owner cost per plate.

People are willing to pay it.

On this note, restaurants pay less than 25 cents per soda when they charge almost 3 dollars.

I got this from a Pepsi rep, it was a while ago and she said ten cents, so I upped it.

Couple of our terminals have mexican food trucks that roll by. Best damned burritos you'll find and they're like $5. I load up every time I see em.
