There’s absolutely no good that comes from it. It’s a shame our society has people willing to spend their money on a system that is designed for them to lose and they do it anyway.

It will eventually lead to the downfall of sports if it remains legal.

This. When gambling is legal and regulated, more eyes are on the betting trends and the results. You had a commissioner go to a fighter prematch because of a betting trend, then call the FBI because of the results.

It's your typical black/white market scenario

When they can make so much money legally, it incentivizes self-regulation and ensuring the results are legit. Losing confidence in the markets would be incredibly costly to their bottom line.

I miss when it was a little more taboo but there’s no reason it should be illegal

It's pretty degen but this is definitely a "sunlight is the best disinfectant" situation.

I don’t care about the gambling itself being legal or not but the incessant advertising and discussion is way too much.

This

I like gambling and don't think it should be illegal but you should feel a little dirty doing it.

Not taking betting advice from fricking Pam Oliver or whoever is sideline reporting for ESPN before the game

Kind of like going to a massage parlor with hours from 10-10 and a neon “Open” sign in the window just to see what happens.

Because it’s popular and it can be taxed.

The myriad of things this could be said about. I’m glad you’re so willing to push your beliefs on others. Thank you.

The simple answer is GREED!!

It is all about the MONEY and they really don't care if they destroy sports.

Its entertainment to them, and they don't give a shite as long as they get paid.

Sounds strangely reminiscent of the exact same attitude Congress has taken toward the people they represent. THEY DO NOT CARE, AS LONG AS THEY PROFIT!!

Personally, I hate the constant commercials and nonstop talking about point lines, over/under, and anything else people gamble on. I’m all for people being able to legally gamble, just don’t be surprised when people within the major sports leagues continue to get arrested for shady shite.
