Are you a “buy cheap buy twice” type of person or…

Do you get the best quality item everytime?
I know it’s a bit of vague question, but say it’s about clothing or a tool of some kind?
I ask because I bought a light winter jacket last week, and there was one that was better looking, better quality all around and I went cheap
Now I regret being cheap arse

I'm a buy for life person.
I think in terms of both cost per number of uses and how many hours I need to work to pay for this to determine what to buy.
Quality in the low run is generally cheaper.

Depends on the situation. If I need a tool for one time use, I go to harbor freight and get the cheapest that will do the job. However, if I intend to keep it long-term, I get snap-on that will last the rest of my life.

I agree, but being frugal in the moment can be a mental hurdle for many.

Generally I’m a buy premium person.
Really generic commodities (gasoline) excepted.
I’ve found that you generally get what you pay for.

I agree, I know it can be a circumstantial question.
I have a buddy that buys cheap sneakers several times a year.
J constantly preach to him to just buy one solid higher quality pair, but he never listens

Depends on the product and frequency of use.
Im pretty careful overall, and many times cheap works as well and as long as more expensive.
I ABSOLUTELY stay away from more expensive when its just about the name.

Depends on the thing I'm buying. Some things are worth spending more for.
Tools are a perfect example. Good tools will pay for themselves. Cheap tools can cost you a lot more than just the replacement cost of the tool.
Knives are the same way. A quality set of kitchen knives will outlast you. A cheap set will be barely usable on day 1.

The trick is to buy the quality items at cheap item prices. Fairly easy to do with clothing, jackets, shoes, etc. If it's something luxury or collectible I might splurge on it. Most things can wait for a sale or clearance.

You pay for the better, I buy great tools, cause I use them weekly, if not daily.
Same with Tires, Shoes, certain other things.

It varies depending on what it is. Guns and scope type stuff I’m on the higher end. Tools I’ll get good stuff but I’m not buying snap on stuff I’m just buying something I need from the local hardware store.
I bought a chainsaw for my house recently and I bought a Sthil for around $500 vs getting the pro series for $700 to $800.

I buy New Balance 990s. They last a long time so it's mostly a good deal. Plus they're made in the US, and I go for that if the price/value difference is within reason.
Also have a made in the USA mattress. That's something you DEFINITELY don't want to go cheap.

The problem nowadays is even the "premium" stuff is also cheap shite, in many cases.

It’s not always a guarantee.
Car parts for example. Unless you’re buying a performance part, buy the cheap parts. They are all made in the same Chinese factories. You’re paying extra for an AC/Delco box.
Harbor Freight- tool boxes/car jacks are fine, everything else is cheap crap.

Daily I use a letter opener that my Grandfather bought over a century ago, with an ivory handle, no less.
I use some of my Grandmother's kitchen tools and her bread board.
My husband uses some of my Father's tools especially his table saw and one of his hand crosscut saws.
Part of our house is a log cabin built over two hundred years ago. The walls are sill firm as is the chimney.
Harbor Freight has a parking space with my husband's name on it, but he seldom buys things there other than disposables.

I don't usually buy the very top end, but I like decent clothes and buy good tools because I don't like busted knuckles. Jackets are worth buying something decent. Guns I stay away from the cheap stuff but don't buy the super expensive stuff.

Depends on the purchase. I buy quality houses and cars and shoes, but get my sweatpants from sams

Get a solid brand, but a clearance model of sneaker. I did that while walking >3 miles daily. Would wear out the rubber in the sole every couple months, but the shoes were $50 instead of $125.
