Why is an interim AD be allowed to hire a football HC?

With no president and no permanent AD in place, a quality HC would not accept the job. There’s too much uncertainty.

Why wouldn’t they find the President first, then hire an AD and coach last?

Because Verge is respected by a lot of head coaches around the nation and he’ll still have a role regardless of who we hire as the next AD

He’s not. He’s saying LSU Football & BOS will find new HC. Calming nerves

He’s taking the headline away from the Governor.

Seems arse backwards. It’s only Halloween. Seems like the necessary positions could be filled and we could move ahead with normalcy.

I think Ausberry is running point on the search, but I would be legit shocked if the hire is made before an AD and president are hired. The legwork still has to be done until then though.

The coaching search is more important and more high profile, so of course they’re going to say it’s the main focus. That doesn’t mean they pull the trigger before the other spots are filled.

Only issue with that is we will hire a new AD soon, assuming Verge doesn't get that role. If it is not him, don't most AD's like to hire their own football coach to put their stamp on the program?

That’s what I’m saying. New president should be in VERY soon. Get the new AD in shortly after and then you’re right back on the normal process of bringing in the coach. We’ve got at least a month before you can likely even begin to bring in the guys we seem to want.

Verge is the mouthpiece and point man who'll contact coaches and agents

The boosters are going to control this search by communicating who they want and putting the money up imo

They want to get the FB coach's contract signed before he finds out he's working for AD Nick Saban.

1. All that would take too long.
2. Verge knows what he is doing.
3. They should have kept Woodward.

Honestly, so that when the choice made is a white HC, having Verge as the hiring AD softens the media backlash from the likes of a Ryan Clark and Stephen A.

In my opinion it's all a smoke show! I understand that Woodward and the BOS reached an agreement and to use their words they both mutually decided it's in the best interest of LSU. An AD who has won 6 championships in 6 years is not normally let go. It took forever to get rid of Alleva. I think they already know who the next AD and head coach are going to be. Just can't really do anything about it now because it's only October and coaches worth a shite are still coaching. This is just their way of calming the news cycle before the weekend to save face for the university.

Exactly. Plenty of time on the HC front.

This setup by LSU is to steady the ship in light of Landry’s frickery.

No HFC in his right mind would accept an offer from an interim AD. A new AD will want his " guy " in the Athletic Departments premiere position. McMahon and Torina should be looking over their shoulders

1. They clearly stated in the press conference that the new president would be announced on Tuesday. So, that one is solved and will be before a new coach is hired because they aren't hiring one before Tuesday.

2. They also said there is a committee to hire the new coach that Verge is on, and he can make decisions as an AD would. He would have been on any committee they put together anyway. It's not as if Verge is running solo, as you're insinuating.

3. They literally cleared all of this up in the press conference and even addressed the Governor's comments, basically stating that they're going to spend what it takes to get the coach they want, as those are private funds and have always been. They essentially put to bed most of the shite people have been melting about, yet we're still melting for some reason.
