I really REALLY enjoyed this movie and watched it in imax upon release...think I liked it because I went in with no high expectations (im just a sucker for alien movies ) and I got a lot more than what I was asking for.

I see this has an RT rating of 94% so obviously others felt the same as me.

Do you consider Arrival a modern classic?

Absolutely loved it

The final reveal was one of the more recent moments in any movie that left me legit breathless

I sunk into my seat for a few minutes as the credits rolled.

Excellent film. There’s another really great flick with the same title that’s an amazing sci fi flick as well:

I'd not call it a classic, but it's really well done. The Martian, Interstellar, I'd rank above it.

Yes. The storytelling structure mimics the actual themes of the movie, which is very cool, and the story is beautiful. Effects are great. Performances are more than great. And it's Villeneuve, so cinema photography and sound design are Oscar worthy

It's one of my favorite movies of the last 25 years. The cinematography is great, along with the sound, and an original story. Amy Adams is so good.

I can't remember if there was a different reveal in the director's cut, but if the one you are talking about is the one I think you mean, I agree. It's crushing.
