1). Too cocky. Most games, if he won the toss he was putting his offense on the field. You do that if they are great but they weren’t except under JD5. So normally team goes 3 & out and opposing team gets ball first in aecond helf. Dumb move move

2) Very stubborn. Very soow to make personnel changes or coaching changes.

3) Going for it on 4th down. This goes back to his being too bold.

4) lied too much. Eveey year he gave an inflated opinion of his team in pre-season practice. I know you are supposed to build confidence but he made it sould like they could the Packers in the ‘60’s.

HC should be the hardest working guy in the building. Let’s start with that as the first requirement for the new guy.

Haven't had someone that is the hardest working since Saban. Les was not, O was not, and Kelly was not. I 100% support this being a requirement in the search for a HC Candidate.

I don’t think this is actually true. Last I checked he had chosen to defer more often at LSU.

LSU has lost 12 coin tosses in a row, though. Which is kind of crazy.

So LSU hasn’t won a coin toss since the halfway point of last year? No chance this is accurate.

They 100% haven’t won a coin toss this year, because I just checked. So that’s at least 8 games. According to the 247 game summary from Saturday:
quote:

-LSU loses the coin toss for a 12th straight time. Tigers will receive after Aggies defer.

I saw another summary that said 11 straight though, so not sure whether it’s 11 or 12. Either way is pretty wild.

ETA: Probability of losing 12 straight coin tosses is 0.02%.

Kelly was lazy.

It was clear he looked at the LSU job and said "dang Orgeron and Miles both won titles there, that could easily be me"

In reality Orgeron worked his but off in 18 and 19 and had 2 really good years.

Les worked his butt off his entire time here... made some poor decisions at the end that led to his demise but i never questioned his work ethic.

Kelly came from a ND program that hardly ever had a test and when they did they would fail.

The SEC is different than ND.... even in a down year the league is a buzz saw.

100% this. Never got that from Kelly.

It would be good to have someone who wants to be a coach more than a media personality.

He learned that from the media while at Notre Dame.

1. LAZY
2. FRAUD who was nowhere near as smart as he thought he was.
3. Outcoached in 99% of the games which ties into the laziness
4. Excuse maker never taking blame for anything.

During Jayden Daniels' time he mostly chose to receive, which was a good decision IMO at the time

Inability to hire at least competently good coordinators at all 3 positions at the same time, and unwillingness to make a change to fix or even address those issues until end of season.

Orgeron was incredibly hard-working up until we won the title. Then he mailed it in, in epic fashion.

bullshite. Pre-2020 O was killing himself to make LSU successful. He was a 5 am or before kind of guy.

How old was Saban when he came to LSU? Young and hungry are a package deal

This is not only a minuscule part of determining a football game, but may also be the exact opposite of what you think. The only multi-year studies I have seen on “take the ball” vs “defer” indicate that you have a very slight advantage by taking the ball first.

Either way, this issue is not in the top 100 of what allows a team to win or lose.

Kelly’s never seemed authentic. He always came across as fake. Kelly was so bad that fans were starting miss Les Miles and his offense. That alone says a lot about Kelly. LSU needs a fiery coach who can get these players to play with passion.

I get the sense the only time Kelly interacted with the players was when he was yelling at them during games.
