Call your shot: Is Kelly the coach in 2026?

Up until today, I would’ve said definitely. However, the more I think about it, I think a negotiated settlement might be more in play than we think. Compared to this season, next year is seen as a rebuild. I’m not sure Kelly has the energy at his age to essentially re-build the program if you count the first rebuild as cleaning up O’s mess.
The money people are going to be very hesitant to contribute to NIL seeing as this year will most likely go down as a waste. You could say: get new offensive coaches but as it has already been mentioned, what coaches are going to come here when the coach is on borrowed time? The guarantees for those contracts would be relatively high too.
It does feel like Kelly is kind of stuck. If the reports coming out about him not putting the time in are true, then that sounds like someone who isn’t totally invested. I didn’t bother to watch his press conference yesterday but people were saying how emotionless that felt too.
Going to be an interesting few weeks.

He will be the coach. The political lackeys on the BOS won’t approve a buyout, even if the money has been raised, which I highly doubt. They’ll replace Sloan and Davis and half of this board will convince themselves we are in for great things next year.

You are correct and it’s so stupid. When we look back on what we did to save money for a buyout will have ended up costing LSU the same or more in money. We will end up cleaning house in a year or 2.

Yes. Since he has been athletic director, we have won national titles in other sports on his hires. The University will not get rid of him yet and he will not get rid of Kelly.
