Do you believe AI will ultimately be beneficial or detrimental to society?

After reading about and seeing some of the new AI platforms recently and how they are generating content on demand within minutes, it's added to my concern about how such technology could be misused.

At the same time, I've used AI to generate answers to complex professionally related questions at times.

I know it can have tremendous benefits to companies in increasing productivity and for creatives in expanding their content.

It's a bit of a dilemma in my view.

What are your thoughts?

Considering it has the mental capacity of Forest Gump in it's current state, I'm not too worried about it.

Used it to figure out a vehicle repair part needed which ended up being much easier fix than taking it to mechanic.

It will absolutely be the end of civilization.

There is no way to harness it.

Like any new technology or tool, it's dependent on the user.

Most people are willing to sell their souls for some convenience. We will usher in the very tool of our captivity because it can make mundane things in life slightly more convenient. The governments of the world will use it to track us and control us but we will be happy because we can create new videos of cute puppies juggling.

Humans are idiots. We should be rejecting it in every way possible.

Will be worse than social media...tech will be so good News propaganda can make society believe anything, more than they do currently but with false video evidence.

it will make people dumber just like the internet has and smartphones have done. shite it’s made me dumber and I grew up without either one. We live in a post-truth society and it will only get worse as video becomes unreliable and what you see and hear yourself can no longer be counted upon as true

Horrible on many levels.
Will be the biggest job killer in history.
Will accelerate Big Brother's ability to eliminate privacy.
It is ushering in a dystopian nightmare.
Makes you wonder what they will do with all of the newly created "useless eaters".
Maybe exterminate them with an emergency vaccine

This is my hang up. When did people stop having pride. Have a neighbor who pays someone to do everything for him. What do you do with all the spare time??? Boredom is the devils playground.
