How many on this board feel they will be able to attend the funeral of Charlie Kirk?

I have several relatives who are attending. Some live in Phoenix - Scottsdale area while others are flying or driving from across the country. I really do appreciate a Sunday was selected for the funeral so that we all may be able to watch it who so desire.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The event, described as a celebration of Kirk's life and legacy by Turning Point USA, the organization he co-founded, will begin with doors opening at 8 a.m. local time and the formal program starting at 11 a.m.

President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are expected to attend, along with other political figures and supporters.

It will be quite possibly the largest funeral in American history that wasn’t a state funeral. With the exception of people like Rubio, the majority of Trump’s cabinet will be there. Everyone on the Right, many moderates, and even some on the Left that were civil with him will be present. And there will be lots of people at that funeral but will put it aside for Charlie.

I'll watch it... I don't fly and that's too far to drive from the armpit of America.

I did look up the stadium, glad to see it has a roof.

Honest question out of curiosity: is it the actual funeral or a memorial service?

Man time flies. Seems like just the other day I remembered Trump as the current president.

My bad. The AI generated response regarding date and attendees was used to provide the info. It has been corrected.

Even if it was held in my hometown, there is absolutely nothing that would make me go to his funeral. I enjoy his YouTube clips and am outraged over his assassination. But why the frick would I go to his funeral at a stadium?

He was as a political/cultural leader for millions of Americans, especially the younger generation. It’s ok if he wasn’t that for you. But a lot of people are hurt by his loss, obviously and want to pay respects. I would go if I lived in PHX.

I believe it is certainly a way for people to show respect and console others who might need it. I did not know him either but his death, fomented by his courage that scared so many, created a lot of emotion for me.

I loved him. But that doesn’t mean I need to grieve at a funeral for him. I’m upset but I’m not a freakin snowflake who needs to go cry at a funeral for a dude I’ve never met.

It's called paying respect a-hole.

I would go to just add more numbers to the people there. We need the left to see his views are the real mainstream.

I only go to funerals of close friends and family members. I would never go to a funeral of someone that I did not know personally. It's just my opinion, but I think this kind of behavior is a little strange.

IMHO you do not grasp the magnitude of his killing and this public event/funeral and what it stands for.

Well they won’t be burying him at the stadium. Probably the public memorial service.
