“the environment in which a shooting like this happens,” per Variety, the former chief strategist for the Bush–Cheney 2004 presidential campaign said of Kirk, “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups.” Dowd continued, “And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
quote:Nope you canceled
Dowd also posted an apology on his BlueSky account, writing, “My thoughts & prayers are w/ the family and friends of Charlie Kirk. On an earlier appearance on MSNBC I was asked a question on the environment we are in. I apologize for my tone and words.” He added, “I apologize for my tone and words. Let me be clear, I in no way intended for my comments to blame Kirk for this horrendous attack. Let us all come together and condemn violence of any kind.”

That is absolutely not an environment I want to be in nor do I want my kid to grow up in. Words are not an excuse to use violence.
This is literally what we teach toddlers.

Apology absolutely not accepted nor will it ever be. frick him. Trump should order all the GOP to not go on any network that hires him. I want to see that piece of shite groveling on a street corner addicted to heroin like he wants for all of us. Matthew Dowd is pure evil and can eat a bag of dicks.

I genuinely don't understand how Dowd gets second chances
Just look at him. He's an awkward sniveling manchild. I understand he gave them the ability to say "former Republican strategist Matthew Dowd" but surely there are limits to that utility.

The environment has been created by the left. A correct response to someone you don’t agree with is a well thought out rebuttal or counter point. What the left came up with was “fascist” “racist” “nazi” “xenophobe”. Words that reflect the worst in human nature. Words that dehumanize. It was an intentional act and they are doubling down.

Exactly. This is why the Nazis called the jews “rats”. To dehumanize so it was acceptable to murder them
