OB

My ole reliable head light finally kicked the bucket recently. Any good recommendations on a good head light when doing activities such as deer hunting?

EDIT: This is for WALKING to and from the stand. NOT hunting.

I have 2.
The one I used for a couple seasons, until last year, is a Fenix HP16R. It’ll run on the rechargeable battery, or 4 AA’s, which is awesome for getting you out of a jam if you forget to charge it. It has a red light, but it’s a single power setting and it’s not very bright. I would walk in with the white light and then switch to red to set up.
The one I got last year is a Fenix HM75R. It has a spotlight, floodlight and red light setting and each of those settings has 3 or 4 power settings. So the red light gets plenty bright enough to walk to and from the stand. The battery doesn’t last long on the brightest setting, but it comes with a battery bank to recharge it. The battery bank can also charge your phone if needed. This is my go to light now because I prefer to walk the last portion of my walk with a red light instead of white. I keep the hp16r in my pack as a back up though because worst case scenario, I can pop in 4 AA’s and have some light

We need more information on your needs. You trying to just shoot a little after hours with a bow or are you trying to shoot long range through a scoped rifle at night?

Nightstick intristically safe is very reliable, easy on batteries and waterproof. Mine was free due to it being employer issued but believe they’re under $50.

My Go To

It clips to my cap bill and swivels so I can see in bow case while prepping at the truck. It also has red led which doesn't impair my night vision while walking in so I can recognize trees and landmarks without lighting up the entire area.

Nahh green jeans knows that the bulleye boys learned what kind of light to use when they were 5yr old.

To the OP
I have a black diamond that I really like it’s 350lumen I think. It has multiple brightness, red light and the ability to lock so that it dont get turned on in your pack. 35$ or so price point

I had a black diamond as my old light. Worked like a charm. Appreciate your advice!

People will say a lot of things about me, some good and some bad. A lot on both sides is true. But if someone says I shot a deer after dark you know they are lying. It was a joke.

My daddy used a carbide lamp and switched to the trusty rayovac with the wide head band. Said the wide head band made it easier to turn the light.

I'll 2nd the Sofirn. Mine works great, holds a charge for a long time, and have had no issues for 2 years.

And you can't beat the value at that price.
