cops were immediately there after he hit the dude. I'm wondering if they were on the way or saw it and responded? Either way, dude with the board tried to leave and guy with the knife pursued so it's clearly self defense IMO.

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Animals like the dude with a knife, they’re never going to be “reformed” or become productive members of society. They’re nothing but animalistic predators. They must be removed from society, otherwise they will continue to prey upon those around them.
But should we warehouse them for the rest of their natural lives? Carry the cost of housing, food, medical, etc while they sit in prison waiting to die. That’s absurd and an unnecessary burden upon society. The best thing to do is to put predators like him down and be done with them. Is it brutal? Yes. But,, if we’re being honest, we all know it’s the best option for society.

Very good job by the white (shirt) guy to keep his calm wits about him. Most would've taken off running or completely folded to the attacker's demands, whatever he wanted.
If more people would stay calm and pose a threat to fight back and inflict damage, scum like this guy preying on scared people would mostly vanish. 90% of the time the threat is all they're prepared to do, and they're not actually willing to go through with it. They just know that if they present a scary enough image they can get whatever they want out of weaker individuals
