Is there a business you dont frequent because of over friendliness

Sometimes folks just take it too far. Acting like you know me because you got my name when I ordered is annoying. Starting small talk conversations is not what I need from the person taking my money. Sometimes they are just bring overly effusive to the point of being obnoxious.
Yes, I am a dick, now get off my lawn!!

No.
I appreciate when people are friendly and candid during the 9-to-5 grind, because plenty of others aren’t.

It’s called customer service and those places probably see a lot of repeat business.
Think Chick Fil A and Buccee’s.
You probably prefer the Popeyes method of pull your mofo arse up and wait 30 minutes for your spicy bitch.

I wish I knew of a business with such qualities.
If I did visit such a place and they small talk with me though, I would have a little fun with it and turn the conversation a little dark. For example, if Johnny Overfriendly is trying to sell me a microwave, after stringing him along for a minute or two I'd say something like "do you think this model is adequate for microwaving a live rabbit?"

Trader Joe's.
I don't go there often but 7-Brew workers are also aggressively friendly.

My complaint is when the cashier/server will ask me “What have you got planned today?” When did this become a thing?

There is a place locally that used to sing to you after you placed your order. All the employees would line up and sing, it was cringy as frick and very uncomfortable.
I went once, never again.

So rude or over friendly? There's no in between I guess.
You do realize a lot of times they're being told to be very friendly. So they're doing their job.

Just respond "maybe some porn later".

As soon as staff at a coffee shop learns my name and addresses me by it when I walk in, I know it’s time to switch coffee shops. I don’t want to have to be “on” before I’ve even had my coffee.

I hate going in Ace Hardware because of this. All of the employees are up front waiting when you walk in and bombard you wanting to help. I know where the hardware and BBQ rubs are
.

How’s the coffee at 7B? One just opened near us. Is it worth being smiled at to death?

I hate small talk like this, but I love that businesses do it. That means they are being taught the importance of customer service.
If someone is overly chipper to me, I'm under no obligation to change my disposition.
"Any plans for the weekend!?" As a coffee is being prepared.
"Not really, just hanging out" with a smile is a totally acceptable response. You don't need to reciprocate, you just need not be an a-hole.
The overly politeness isn't about you.

Office Depot
Needed some pens while on the road, they were right there. Walk in and they ask if I need help. "Nope, just grabbing some pens." Dude gets on a walkie talkie and describes me and says, "guy in blue shirt, jeans, just getting pens, declined help." Someone else came up to me while looking at pens...same thing.
Went back to a different location months later and same procedure.
It was just weird

That sounds like there was a theft issue and the manager created a procedure to stop the theft that was dumb and the employee is being passive aggressive in how they implement it because it makes their life hell.
