he maybe scores or at the very least its 1 and 10 inside the 15 and at that point Shough was in a good rhythm and more than likely scores.

Narrative is then completely different.

Olave would have caught that ball. Saints will score on that drive. Shough will be QB1.

It was a good drive going, but he didn't.

Ultimately it doesn't matter. Rattler is going to start the first few games but Shough will start before the Bye week

My guess is coaches know the difference between the narrative and what actually happened. They also know the level of competition each QB faced.

Both QBs were solid yesterday, which was encouraging. But I don’t think you should look at the numbers and just say one did better than the other. That doesn’t tell the story.

To me, Shough looks more like a starting NFL QB than Rattler. However, Rattler might give them best chance to be competitive with his legs because the OL play is so bad.

The biggest takeaway yesterday was the o line play. Hard to judge either QB when Ruiz is getting blown up every play.

What if Olave or Shaheed played week 1 with Rattler starting? Would the narrative be different then?

We are docking Shough because he got immediately sacked twice because his line was dogshit and his #1 WR missed a gimmie 3rd down catch. He also had absolutely no running game. I don't think Rattler was head and shoulders above him at all.

The fact that Shough put the ball right where it should be and Olave dropped it does not negatively effect Shough at all.

If you're evaluating the QB play you count that as a win for Shough.

If you're evaluating the team you count it as a loss for the offense.

If you're evaluating Olave you count it as a loss for Olave.

There were other plays the were negatives for Shough but that wasn't one of them.

He was 9 of 12 with a drop and a throwaway. What exactly is the problem?

The Saints arent. They arent shite posters on a message board.

No doubt Olave’s drop will NOT be counted against Shough, and the coaches/non morons understand that.

Olave is one of the players we should be looking to deal. Could likely get a 2nd for him and frankly he isn't a #1 nor worth any long term commitment or a big money deal.

Those trades for Olave and Penning... while many fans were happy at the time they were both bad moves in hindsight.

You can't seriously believe a team will give up a 2nd for a WR that isn't a #1 or worth a long term deal, can you?

What a dumb post. He's either a #1 and worth a high 2nd/low 1st on the last year of his rookie deal, or a #2/#3 and worth a mid round pick.

Sure I do. Teams value players differently and some will just say Olave is worth it because of terrible QB play since he's been in the league. He's a #1 pick who has certainly played well enough to merit that consideration.

OMG hope you get over it!

I thought it was stupid to make that move and said if we were trading up, it should only be for Garret Wilson.

Almost word for word what I told my wife walking out of the Dome yesterday

I think Shough has a brighter future but if the OL doesn't get their shite together they may get him killed if he is the week 1 starter.

Coach said this or is this fans assuming because of one drive against the 4th string defense?

I still think this is wide open. They basically flipped stats from last week.

Agreed.

Especially, when 4 of the 5 who played would have been the likely Game 1 starters. There's not another position group the Saints have invested more "capital" in than the OL. If they are awful, then that is a HUGE problem with the FO

Ireland heads up college scouting, and is a huge proponent of RAS scores. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but they need more balance in their weighting metrics.
