Apparently State Farm is claiming not to issue new Umbrella policies.

Agent told me they've been paying out more than they're taking in. $1MM coverage went up to $2,450 a year for me. Almost 100% increase.

I'll renew RLI and drop the SF. That's absurd.

Honor all existing customers with major bump. New policies will not be written.

Lake Charles area.

State Farm over doubled my umbrella.. so told them to stick it, got some one else to write it. Got it back $700

They refused to rewrite my parents and they have never made a claim

What the hell is an “umbrella” policy? Homeowners, automobile, both?

It’s a way to make an additional $1 million or more available to the plaintiffs and their attorneys if you tap their rear bumper.

Umbrella is for people with more to lose than a car.

I carried SF and RLI. Don't ask me why. I was supposed to cancel SF last year and never did.

I'll be renewing RLI for $1,275 and dropping SF.

My only concern is if there is an incident if they'll actually pay out and cover but I suppose it likely no better than SF. Probably litigate forever.

Not as bad here in AR, but good luck getting past my LLC's, trusts, and holding companies. Plus I can litigate those mf'ers forever with interest off my play money. POS lawyers and plaintiffs ruining the country. It's a shame we have to spend a small fortune to protect our assets.

It’s rare for an umbrella policy to get hit outside of a big jury verdict. You’re going to have a max policy in order to get the umbrella.

It is and will only serve to drive more wealth and good tax payers out of that state.

$2,450
Thats what mine was. It doubled this year. The under/uninsured motorist part is most costly.

So, it sounds like a liability policy over and above your homeowners and auto insurance?

Jeff Landry’s trial lawyer buddies need the extra policy limits to pay for the jets to fly our “conservative” Gov around

My RLI went from a few hundred dollars to $2,500 this past year. Granted I added a teenage driver to the policy.

Unfortunately, plaintiff attorneys gauge their ask in a suit based on how much insurance you have.
