No, what did it say?

Pretty much all the lip service you could expect about finances and what they need to do to be competitive. But also laid out 4 likely scenarios for the future realignment

since there is no going back to the old way regarding conferences, my hop would be that conferences will break into "football only" conferences and then "all other sports" conferences.

Not sure how you would divide them up, though.
6 - 14 team conferences is 84 teams (plenty enough, maybe even too many for the top level)
would like to see them all split somewhat geographically to attempt to preserve longstanding rivalries.


and have standardized scheduling.
9 conference games, 3 OOC games.

OOC games would be similar to NFL.
you 1 team each from 2 of the other conferences on a rotating basis.
2026 Conf A plays 1 game against B and one against C
2027 Conf A plays 1 game against D and one against E
2028 Conf A plays 1 game against F and one against B

and keep rotating like that.
and like the NFL, you play the teams that finished in same spot at you the previous year.
if you finished 3rd in your conference in 2025, your 2 "set" OOC opponents will also have finished 3rd in their conferences.
so you'll know 5 years from now what 2 conferences you're facing, just won't know which teams until the season before it ends.


the 3rd OOC game is open for you to schedule whoever you want amongst the other 83 teams.
so any rivalry that gets "killed" by this alignment and scheduling can still happen more years than not.


all other sports can go back to a more traditional conference setup.

I think it will be for just football. Those programs have enough revenue, particularly from TV contacts, to support themselves. The football postseason has already long been disassociated from the NCAA.

Mens basketball will be a little different because there are a lot of non-football schools who have good basketball programs. The gap between the power conf programs and non-power conf. programs is not as big as it is in football.

The big TV contracts are set to expire in the early 2030's. You'll start to see real movement on the "super conf." front starting around 2028 in advance of those negotiations. The ACC is going to be the next conf. to fall

That blows the entire system up. Varsity athletic departments will implode and club programs take over. Individual club sports can put as many or little resources they want.

The inevitable breakaway of sec and big ten

Professional teams should control the college in their area. Develop talent, sell talent, acquire talent from other areas like European soccer.

NFL officiating needs to be their own thing, they need to control that down to the pee wee level.

We’re getting a second pro league whether fans want it or not. Consume SPAM and like it or you’re a bigot.

In the next twenty years, I think you will see teams associated with the schools, paying for the rights, but ultimately not part of the universities.
