"It'll continue to be produced right here in this building," Goodell said from NFL Network's broadcast studio in L.A. "It will be the NFL RedZone. I don't think fans will see any difference to that.

"Obviously, in the context of that, though, ESPN purchased the RedZone name and they will be able to utilize that for other sports, college football and other things, and I think that could be an exciting thing for our fans also to see a RedZone, maybe in college football or other sports. That's something that they now own and have the ability to do that. But as far as Red Zone, NFL Red Zone, there won't be any changes for our plans."

A college football RedZone is a no-brainer. There are so many more games happening on Saturday afternoon than Sunday afternoon. It would be a great way to keep up with the action.

And now it can happen, with ESPN creating a one-stop portal for keeping up with college football.

If it works, the NFL benefits, too. The league will own 10 percent of ESPN.

That would be sick. Hopefully they’re able to get games on Fox,CBS, etc to show.

nah. I'll just use Youtubetv to watch 4 games of my choosing at a time .
I have zero faith ESPN could show me what i'd want to see.

Didn’t they already have one? I think it was called Goal Line?

I thought that had went away. If it hasn’t they’ve done an absolutely terrible job of marketing it

Ultimately it's all the NFL's money so Redzone siphoning off viewers from the networks doesn't matter to the league. In college the networks broadcast partners matters much more.

ESPN had a version of this in the past, but it was never consistent as it would just randomly be on some Saturdays and others not. It was called ESPN Goal Line.

ETA: Draconian beat me to it.

I thought it was still available on the streaming app, but the internet says it was quietly discontinued during Covid.

I recall the biggest issue was that ESPN would only whip around to live coverage on its family of networks, so you wouldn't see anything from the CBS or FOX games. If ESPN is just going to repackage the same thing with new graphics and talking heads, and call it RedZone, it'll probably suck.

I think the main difference now is ESPN has more games available than it once did. Most of the G5 games (other than the Mountain West, I think). ESPN didn't use to have that. I remember having to find CUSA games on Twitter, Facebook, and the American Sports Network. ESPN now has all of the SEC and ACC home games, when it used to not have this.

It’s only worth something if they have the Big Ten and Notre Dame games too… they should cut deals to promote each other

I enjoy the multi stream on YouTube tv, but they need to make that shite customizable asap.
