A large part of my retirement plans is fishing for specks, reds, flounders and sac a laits.
So with that in mind…Louisiana moves up a bit higher than 50th for me.

Louisiana loses all these media ranking lists since Jeff Landry banned trannies
A lot of posters have moved to texas over it

So you want me to move to New Hampshire and freeze my balls off with a bunch of Yankee a-holes?

I enjoy AI generated buzz feed garbage, I’m at work trying to be as unproductive as possible.

Unfortunately Louisiana has ranked at or near the bottom of most of these type lists for a long time. Louisiana is home, my family are here and it’s a fine place for me to retire. But I sure as hell would prefer a cooler climate.

Don’t worry, it’ll get better again once he finds a 2nd tiger to join Omar on the field this coming season.

I know some and also Mainers and Vermonters that are baw-ish.
Yankees are usually pretty good about following the rules, that part is different than the South where folks are more likely to start an ad hoc junkyard at home.

Glad I picked a top 10 state after LSU, weather especially.

Kamaron McNair from New York City. No bias there but she's probably right about Louisiana.

100% a list made by people NOT retired.

You’d think bank rate would generate a list ranking retirement states by primarily focusing on financials. Instead, they weighted it off of a public opinion poll.
Affordability is the highest weighted, as it should be. But weather is the second highest, which is pretty subjective. They factored in natural disasters, which I’m sure hurt a lot of the south because of hurricanes. But I’d take a hurricane over tornado alley, earthquakes, tsunamis, and wildfires any day. Live far enough inland and prepare properly and it’s not a big deal.
Neighborhood safety is 3rd. Anybody that lives in Louisiana knows where the crime occurs and doesn’t occur. Saying a state is a bad place to retire because of crime is almost the equivalent of another country saying America is a bad place to live because of the crime. You can easily find areas where you don’t have to worry about it.
Louisiana is by no means the best state to retire, but it ain’t the worst. And Texas at second worst, Florida 10th worst? That list is garbage, unless you assume retirees plan to live in the largest cities in those states.
ETA: For those interested… the original list was generated by a study done by bankrate.com. It explains their methodology, which IMO is flawed. https://www.bankrate.com/retirement/best-and-worst-states-for-retirement/LINK

I'm telling you guys, retire to Western Kentucky. Beautiful scenery and affordable.

Louisiana is a bottom 5 in just about everything. But the food. The food.

Terrible AI list.
Lowest property taxes should be the absolute #1 indicator of best retirement state. Almost to the point that nothing else matters. When you own a home and have no income, other states are still taxing the helll out of seniors for their annual tax to live in the home they own. Louisiana has among the lowest.
Seniors are also always cold and wear sweaters when it’s 70, they often don’t have the ability to shovel the walkway after every snow. There is a reason people travel south to retire. Finally, Louisiana has a very low cost of living.
List is BS, thread should be deleted.
