Currently listed as a QB - do we expect to have a “wildcat” package with him running the ball? Redshirt this year?
He feels like too good of an athlete to not have a spot for

I expect him to be another in the long list of Louisianamals prepared to run through brick walls for LSU! Da tigahs got a good one in this cat!

Yes, they ran wildcat packages for Johnson in the the spring game & Sloan as well as Kelly has said the packages will be used this season.

And how does Van Buren being on the roster now impact Johnson's prospects as a QB?

With Trey holly now gone for sure, I think he would be a good Rb.
He’s already played Rb for the tigers.
We now have van buren and Hurley.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Ju’Juan Johnson can be what we all hoped Russell Shepard was going to be…a dual threat player who can be a game changer.

I don't have many expectations for him. I don't understand moving him to quarterback. 4th string quarterback.

Brian Kelly has no idea how to use this guy. Hasn’t figured out how to use Perkins. Don’t expect much from Johnson until Kelly is fired after this season

Swing passes in 2 minute offense against Bama

ladies and gentlemen this is a masterpiece in ranting. let's remember this is the guy with the highest win percentage in the sec out of all the active coaches.
this is how jay Johnson got talked about after last year .
fricking idiots

Honestly, I thought we'd move him back to DB this year, but whatever they do with him, he's too good to not get on the field.

Feels like another Russell Sheppard where they can't find him a position. Hopefully I'm wrong

Van Buren is scheduled to redshift. Johnson from what they were saying will run a wildcat package, especially in goal line situations. It should be an interesting story heading into the season.

Kind of 2003 situation like we had with Flynn and Perrilloux. I see the same type of thing this season with the offense

I think we could easily see him used in multiple looks. Wildcat package reps, gadget RB or slot packages. He could have a Taysom Hill-esque impact on the offense albeit he's clearly not a TE but just from a multiple looks perspective. He's a weapon and should be used as such since there isn't an immediate starting role for him.

quote:THIS !! I could see him lining up in the slot, reverse field, toss it to him and let him throw a pass. Run it a couple of times. If it's successful, then you use him as a decoy from the same position.

What was LSUs biggest offensive weakness last year. Redzone and short yardage offense. Having a QB that has the threat of hitting the home run with his legs is vital in those situations. Hell just having a competent runner is great in those situations. Johnson is going to have a big impact on this offense.
