What would ya'll include in your perfect master suite if you were to build one?
What suggestions would you make for the bedroom, bathroom, closets, etc?

Double vanity with a dedicated makeup area.

How my wife has her own vanity and a whole arse makeup desk in the bedroom, yet I still have hair products and a blow dryer on my sink area befuddles me.

I am limited to a tooth brush and my razor in available space I have. Drives me nuts.

Hard flooring throughout. Carpet just gets nasty over time.

Built in drawers in the master. I have a set of 4 on my side, set of 6 on my wife's. Allows us to not have a dresser taking up floor space in the bed room.

Floor to ceiling shoe rack. Have a 3' wide by 8' tall shoe shelf in the master. It encourages everyone to keep their shoes picked up.

48 gun safe. If you have dedicated space, the wife cant complain when you buy another one.

Timer/ humidity switches on the exhaust fan. To simple not to have.

2 lighting circuits, recessed lights overhead on a dimmer, vanity lights at the mirrors.

Interior wall insulation. No more hearing every terd hitting the water.

Currently planning a master suite remodel, so I have a pretty good running list.

I’ve got a set of switches next to my side of the bed that controls the fan and lights. That way it’s not as big a deal when my wife walks into the room, past the light switch, gets into bed, and then asks me to turn off the lights.

A walk in shower with no glass and no seat if you have a big enough space. I don’t shower in our master bc I hate wiping the glass down and I have to regrout the seat constantly. I’m sure that’s due to my contractor being a tight arse and using the cheapest, shittiest subs possible.

I would also make the guys side taller .. we saw that in a home and it was fantastic. Easier to shave and brush teeth and what not.

Built in Espresso station, with a small fridge for milk, drain line, small sink. Making cappuccino in the morning is awesome.

Separate closets if you have the room. Otherwise no matter how big 1 closet is, you'll be squeezed with your stuff as she takes up most of it.

Laundry room off the master closet.

No reason to carry dirty clothes across the house when they can build it right there.

If you have the space,a his/hers closet, 2 water closets, 2 vanity areas, 2 showers split with a floating tub. And be sure to give her the most space.

Windows.
A house we lived in a few years ago had one window in the master bedroom.
Terrible.

Couldn’t live without:
Office w/ view.
Seperate toilet room.
Ceiling fan.
Large shower.
Large closet with racks and shelving.
Private egress.

Never use:
Jacuzzi tub.

Rarely use:
TV

Want:
Even more elaborate shower.

Don’t want now but thought about:
Heated bathroom floor.

Tips:
Just dedicating 150-250+ sqft to the master bath makes it feel very luxurious even if you’re not using the space. It’s one place where wasting space is beneficial. Making bedrooms too large will just make them look and feel weird.
Get dedicated places for a treadmill/rower/whatever or they will end up in the office or some other undesirable place.

This is a great list.

We are looking to combine our master closet into our master bath and turn that space into a wet room. Based on the current design, we would be able to accomplish without a glass wall, which fits a pain from another poster above.

Curb less / walk in shower is top of our list. As you get older the less chance of trip & fall is a huge plus.

I have a wet room and I always feel guilty showering when the SO is in the bath relaxing bc she will get sprayed. So either a bigger wet room or move the tub out of the wet room.

For sure a separate room for toilet.

Need more counter space for her makeup etc. huge closet that’s bigger than what you have clothes for now.

Drawer Dresser or Chests of Drawers, whatever you want to call it. In the closet, his and hers. Above every toilet, a built in cabinet, you can store cleaners, TP, etc. I framed inside the wall, to recess the cabinet into the wall cavity. Safe inside the master closet. I did a wraparound, with two doors. The doors had door switches, when the door closed, the lights went out. Cathedral ceiling in the master, wasn’t stuffy. Have a PVC pipe for adding termite treatment to the tub box. Too many things I did over the years building custom homes.

A number of my homes were in the Baton Rouge newspaper.
My name just shows up in the police reports.
Let me know if you need anything.
