I’m sure we will be told that it’ll be better than Topgolf.

quote:

River District Neighborhood Investors, or RDNI, the consortium chosen to turn a barren 47 acres of land owned by the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center into a new neighborhood packed with housing, offices and tourist attractions, confirmed this week that the $50 million driving range and entertainment complex won't be built on the Tchoupitoulas Street parcel where "future home of Topgolf" signs have been hanging along chain-link fencing.

More pie in the sky BS.

Tourist attractions? How about cleaning up the French Quarter?

This smells of corruption from five oh fore owners and city officials which is in a much much shittier location. They held up the permits and eventually killed it all together.

Perhaps they could re-create “Storyville,” as an indoor Mall, complete with brothels, drug stores (medical and “medicinal”), live music venues and bars, restaurants, and a parking garage. Hell, if you throw in a dollar store, then the entire second story could be low income housing.

Combo Malls / housing is a thing.

Went to Five O Fore last week for the first and probably last time . Curious to see how long it stays in nice condition given the clientele that was there.

How about a museum documenting the contributions of sub-Saharan African cultures to the history of Mathematics, Classical Music, Engineering, Science, and Technology?

When top golf doesn’t survive in New Orleans, that says tons about how crappy the city is.

BR has plenty of issues and too golf is still packed on Saturday and Sunday

504 used pricate funding and had shovels in the ground before Top Golf ever signed.

Then NOLA powers held up 504 from opening, for months, once everything was complete because Top Golf had a no-compete clause. Top Golf felt they should be the sole provider of golf recreation.

504 did it the right way, the state and city tried to strong arm them.

504 is sketch. I won’t be back. They need 4 cop cars in the parking lot just to make you somewhat feel safe.

Maybe light manufacturing or something distribution related? That's what the area was 75 years ago before they started putting housing projects and parking lots everywhere.

It's still a very good piece of real estate. I don't see why Top Golf was mission critical for it.

That video was disgusting. 504 is a train wreck.

Plus the guy said the game stopped working with an hour left and the workers told him oh yeah that just happens sometimes.

Top Golf will wait for them to go out of business and then buy it up.

This cannot be said enough. I will never go to 504 because of where it is located. Doesn't help that its freaking expensive as hell too.

I thought this whole thing started because Joe Jaeger swooped in and signed his DriveShack deal as a way of undercutting the Convention Center project and their deal with TopGolf?

Jaeger then just left DriveShack unfinished until the 504 guys came in and bought the property and finished everything up.

I wouldn't claim anyone did things the "right" way.

IMO, the City of NO let politics get in the way of letting an established company like TopGolf come into the City and operate and instead settled for an inferior knockoff because they are local.
