Are brown, red and amber ales ever going to make a comeback?

Seems like we’ve been in a really heavy IPA centric state of brewing for well over a decade now.
Does anyone miss what used to be a ubiquitous pub staple?
A good brown ale on tap. A nice Bell’s Amber Ale was such a treat back in the day that you really don’t see anymore.

I haven't seen much of a comback with those in Colorado, but I have seen a comeback in pilsers and lagers which is nice. I love a good hazy, but the older I get the harder it is to drink 8 of them in a night

Dearly. I have my local beer & wine store special order a case of Rochefort 10 for me so I can always make sure I have some available to scratch that itch. Trappist ale technically but same general family.

This fad can't end soon enough.

Man, I love Abita Amber!

While I love IPA, I still enjoy a good amber as well. Especially in an outdoor setting when it’s over 85 degrees.
I like some brown ales. Never been much a fan of the red ales, though.

What? I guess if you mean dark beer but otherwise it's a totally different animal from an amber/brown.
I see ambers and browns on the menu of most places I go and will occasionally have one. I drank a few Boddingtons a few weeks ago, mainly because they didn't have a great beer selection but I enjoyed "The Cream of Manchester". I've noticed a few brew pubs around me will have "pub ales" on the menu most the time.

If it is a Trappist dubbel it is absolutely a brown. Though the 10 is a quad and not a brown, i say general family as both are going to generally be dark brown in color with prominent malty and caramel flavors. While your weaker brown ales are going to be pretty different, your stronger brown ales are going to be very similar in flavor profile to a Quad. Maybe cousins would have been a better term? Brown or a Quad would scratch the same itch for me if I was craving a beer in those styles.

Scottish red ales are hard to find in the US, and yet they are so smooth and good.

They are good, but man have I seemed to have a bad run with ones i've found recently. Granted, i'm trying ones that I know nothing about, so could always say that about any beer, just seemingly had back luck with them lately. A good scottish red is damn tasty though.

Creature Comforts had a cask-conditioned English-Style Brown Ale last night. Reminiscent of Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale.
Was delicious.

I want to visit the version of the world Paul Allen lives in. He's always commenting like he just got out of a third world prison and is just catching up on the trends from 5 years ago. At this point it has be willful ignorance or just an inability to bring to bear basic observations on society. He's a fascinating individual.

I hope so. I'm honestly tired of IPAs and prefer all the ones you mentioned.

Nothing better than a Brooklyn Brown Ale on tap paired with a medium rare prime steak.

They make fantastic beers. Never had a bad one of any style from CC.

I've been largely into lagers over the last couple years now. However, a good toasted coconut brown ale is a fantastic beer. And now i have an idea for my next-ish beer to brew.

I love a traditional English bitter or brown ale with low ABV.
America finally stated making beer beyond BMC, and we’ve had trends of IPA, imperial stouts, and other hoppy high ABV beers. Now we’re seeing light, low alcohol, and no alcohol, as well as Mexican lagers as trends.
Seems like they’ve all had a moment except for English bitter or brown ale. You see a few of them, but many craft places have nothing close to those styles.
PS: I read an article recently that said the name English bitter is falling out of style in the UK. Brewers are changing the names of bitters to amber ale or the like.

That kind of Newcastle is long gone. Lagunitas screwed it up. Used to be my go-to summer beer
