Their fruits of their capitulation to progressives keep rolling in, as fast as the people keep leaving for other churches.

quote:

Twenty-six churches in Alabama will close after a vote by members in the Alabama West-Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, according to WDHN.

The announcement to close a total of 26 churches came near the end of the conference’s annual meeting on Tuesday at the Pensacola First United Methodist Church.

Low attendance was blamed for the church closings. The United Methodist Church has experienced a mass exodus of churches over a shifting view within UMC leadership related to homosexuality and homosexual clergy. The Alabama West-Florida Conference is currently involved in litigation with Harvest Church in Dothan.

Methodists should come home to the church founded by Jesus Himself almost 2000 years ago.

The people who left these churches should buy back the buildings and hire conservative staff for them.

I’m sure there is a little of this but the biggest thing is people in general just aren’t going to church anymore. And that’s not a trajectory that’s going to change

He wouldn't recognize it today. It's more similar to the Pharisitical temple with its rules and works requirements, hierarchies of power, and wealth.

Catholics should repent of their idolatry and come back home to Jesus himself - recreating the Church he founded in the book of Acts.

Your current iteration is a bastardized, unrecognizable version of the Church handed over to Peter by Jesus.

On the contrary, our church attendance has tripled since disaffiliating from the UNITED Methodist conference.

Centenary was connected to the Methodist Church. The Methodist students in my dorm were very rich. Another girl I knew from HS went to SMU in Dallas. She said the Methodist girls in her dorm were careful to schedule classes avoiding 11am-2pm. That's when they went to some nearby mall for lunch and shopping with daddy's credit card...every day!

Not all Methodist churches are bad but yeah some are really bad. We left the one I went to for over 20 years growing up because it went woke AF around the time Trump came around but still go to a Methodist church today

Kind of disagree. There's a movement at my Lifetime Fitness in Beaverton, OR that dozens of swaggy young Zoomers have joined - all now attending the same Evangelical church south of Portland. This is also happening in Rogers, AR with my zoomer nephews whose Gen X parents never brought them to church.

That is the goal of the left. Install it with leftist lesbian ministers, preach politics and run off members. Church closed. Mission accomplished.

They have abandoned God’s word as their ultimate authority and instead have become a social advocacy group. It’s sad to see.

A speaker ... also stated that some of the churches, including those in the Wiregrass, were closed because “circumstances existed at these churches that required immediate protection of the local church property for the benefit of the denomination.
