I've never said "I'm from LA". I usually find enough energy to pronounce the other three syllables to say "Louisiana"

I know they mean Los Angeles when they say LA in an in person conversation. But online when they type out LA it does get confusing.

This is really only a problem online over text. No one calls Louisiana “el-aye” in real life. I make sure to delineate “L.A.” to tell the difference, but I usually just say “Louisiana” unless I am inputting in a postal code.

We know the difference between LA and L. A.

As to others getting them mixed up, depends on the news story I guess. "Guy rapes cow in LA" let them think Los Angeles.

The two digit state postal codes are a touch over half a century old. I doubt anyone thought of Louisiana as L-A prior to that point. I have to think people have been calling Los Angeles LA for quite a bit longer than that.

Said out loud it's perfectly reasonable for "L" "A" to represent Los Angeles as no one refers to Louisiana this way in spoken conversation.
