WV coach brings in 2 relievers who pitched less than 13 innings total for the year.

I was reading the WV’s message board article and the first two relievers out of the pen both had only 6 innings (or so) of experience this whole season. Coach obviously didn’t think WV was going to get to our ace so was setting up for the next game. Bottom line, WV will have some of their best bullpen arms available tomorrow, (not that I think it will matter).
I’ll see if I can find and link the article

So did we. Not sure if just throwing in the towel in game 1 is a smart decision against us but I guess we’ll see. IMO it would’ve been smart to keep the game as close as possible and make us burn our top relievers tonight because Eyanson has been on fire and that could leave us incredibly deep in the bullpen for game 3

Is anyone in their pen better than their first pitcher that we ran in 4 innings after 4 ER?

Stony brook and Little Rock taught me to never count out the opposition.

I just thought it was a bad call…they were only down 2…if you were going to play it like that, they shouldn’t have started their ace.

Obviously he's their Ace but their #2 and best reliever (Bassinger) will both pitch tomorrow and both look pretty good. Their coach managed the game today extremely poorly. His team wasn't done scoring and he threw in the towel. I get saving Bassinger but he also saved a lot of his mid tier guys who may not end up pitching all weekend now if this doesn't go to 3 games. And he didn't make us use a single one of Shores, Evans, Williams, Mayers, and Cowan

Their pitching staff is not good lol

It was some puzzling moves for sure.

It’ll be cooler and they will play better. That’s what they are banking on

Don’t forget that one pitcher who was visibly exhausted has only pitched 6.2 innings and hasn’t pitched since March

So you put yourself in an elimination game against Eyanson? Good luck.

…. And then suddenly it was 10-7 and he’s not bringing his best?
I’d be pissed.

Of course not, but pitchers have good days and bad days, and we might see a much better performance from a worse pitcher.

Everyone is dumping on the WVA coach but he apparently is short of ammo related to the pitching staff. LSU's ERA is 3.73...WVA is 4.35. Dandy Don site said the other day that WVA really only has 2 pitchers you can depend on at all...Saturday's starter and the Sunday starter who is normally a reliever. The starter today is 7-1 but with an inflated ERA of 4.57.Going with a reliever pitcher as a starter after several days of not playing before this weekend speaks volumes as to their starting pitchers.
IMO, desperate situations call for desperate measures. Would you rather bring in guys with many innings who have shown they aren't any good or go with relative unknowns that have pitched less and hope to catch lighting in a bottle with a surprise. I will remind fans of Thatcher Hurd 2 years ago who had a poor regular season and suddenly became a post season star. I would not criticize the WVA manager who apparently has little pitching to work with.

Easier said than done when the guy looks like a window licking retard sitting in the bullpen with the fricking Coach Prime reflective sunglasses and an oversized batting helmet.
