Type of player we should keep, but likely wants out to a better market and team. Let’s get something for him.

IF...anybody deserves to play with a serious contender to win it all...it's Herb.

So, IF...he has to go..I"m hopin' for Nuggets or Mavs...& then...Spurs/Rockets/Lakers. Pels SHOULD get a VERY solid return for Herb...and I would probably wait until the trade deadline...to get maximum value...when/if Herb is moved.

Necessary? No. Beneficial? Potentially

It’s not necessary but if his value is high, do it.

We aren’t trading Herb coming off a season ending injury. His value isn’t high right now. Herb is a guy you want on your team so I wouldn’t trade him unless it was an offer you can’t say no to.

Herb's the kind of guy who wants to play basketball and not have to deal with rape allegations and other bullshite

Wouldn't surprise me to find out he wants to leave asap

It’s not necessary, but he has more value now than he ever will. Cheap contract for 2 years. We won’t be contending in those 2 years and he will want a market rate contract after that.

Might be wise to wait until Feb trade deadline to reestablish Herb's trade value. But no matter what...IF you're not offered premium trade value for Herb...you simply hang up the phone and wait for the next call...rinse and repeat.

That #1 pick is shiny.

If they play it right, it could end up being extremely beneficial.

Can the numbers work where giannis goes to Dallas?

This loyalty is misplaced. Jones is a solid player. But he's a borderline starter that is an overrated defender. Is he better than Dort? Cause Dort is like 9th on the Thunder as far as trade value. They might not even get a 1st for him. But we believe we'll get multiple 1sts for Jones? It doesn't make sense.

Jones is a 2 deep guy, like 8th or 9th for a contender. He's a lot like Alvarado. I want to keep both. But if either are playing major minutes, we aren't very good.

ANY team that thinks Herb will be... "like 8th or 9th" ...for them...will NOT want to trade for Herb. But...that's just my opinion...I COULD...be wrong.

itll be for a suitcase of $20 dollar bills and a 2nd round pick.

On a serious note, it would be hilarious if Dumars makes a bunch of moves and we end up being a playoff team in 2 years.

He has:
An achilles rehabbing PG.
A 33 year old SG
Herb
Zion (ugh)
Missi (good potential here)

The bench is also shaky. This is like how I felt about the Saints 3-4 years ago. An outdated, yet talented team with a bleak future in a few years with how everything is set up.

This won’t happen bc Gayle and others running things have their heads in the sand

But the only way I see out of this situation is committing to what the Thunder did several years ago.

Zion should be traded or released
CJ should be traded
Herb Jones should be traded
Missi should be traded
Trey Murphy should be traded
Murray should be traded as soon as his contract situation is more tenable
Olynk should be traded

We should acquire as many draft picks as possible and then rent our cap space out for more picks. After 4-5 years of this and good drafting maybe we will have a chance to be competitive again.

The next 3-4 years is already down the drain. The only way to get past that is to accept it and look toward 2030 and beyond.

The only path to relevance is to accept we are extremely irrelevant in both our Conference and Division and to start over. I would miss guys like Trey and Herb, but they are not good enough to pull us out of this mess by themselves. They are elite role players. Let a team 1/2 pieces away overpay for them and we can reap the benefits down the road.

Why is this a thing?
Did Herb or the Pels ever give any indication he might get traded?

Because he has value and other teams are going to ask about him. There should be no off limits players on a team this bad.

That makes no sense.
You don’t just trade a guy b/c his value is high.
If this is what they want to do, then do it. That means trading everyone and starting over.
If you don’t think there is a future with this team then blow it up. Trading one guy is a stupid idea.

I think it’s complete BS, but it is funny to me as one of the only Herb trades I liked in the past was something around Lively. If we had a chance some other way to get an all around 2 guard that can create, lively as a young anchor, and more importantly under team control for years still, could make sense.

The Mavs closing five should have AD at the 5 and Flagg at the 4. Herb as a lead defender and spacer makes a lot of sense. Livelys value to them is less than it would be to us IMO.
