Smells Like Teen Spirit- Nirvana

"Oh well, whatever, Nevermind"

Close to me- The Cure

“But if I had your faith
Then I could make it safe and clean
Oh if only I was sure
That my head on the door was a dre-ea-eam”

Overcompensate- Twenty One Pilots

“Where I'm from, I was born right here, just now
Originated right in front of your eyes
If you can't see, I am Clancy, prodigal son
Done running, come up with Josh Dun, wanted dead or alive”

Wake of the flood, laughing water, forty-nine,
Get out the pans, don't just stand there dreamin'
Get out of the way, get out of the way,
Here comes sunshine

Boston, from "Rock and Roll Band," from the album "Boston."

Well, we were just another band out of Boston
On the road and tryin' to make ends meet

Pink Floyd - One Slip is the first to pop in my head.

A Momentary lapse of reason, that binds life to life.

Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette

The title is from the lyrics of "You Learn"

"Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)"

Subway, she is a porno
And the pavements, they are a mess
I know you've supported me for a long time
Somehow, I'm not impressed

It is up to me now, turn on the bright lights
Oh, it is up to me now, turn on the bright lights

Even though there's no title track on the album, The Bones of Baby Dolls lists Acid Baths album title, just missing one word.

Mary Lou left marks on you
She just screams at the walls
The kite string pops
I'm swallowed whole by the sky

Emmylou Harris - Easy From Now On
"Quarter moon in a ten cent town
It's time for me to lay my heartaches down
Saturday night I'm gonna make myself a name
Take a month of Sundays to try and explain"

I remember hearing back in the day that Poison's "Open Up and Say... Ahh!" was initially going to be called "Swallow This," which came from a line in Love on the Rocks
"In the heat of the night is when she comes alive
She gonna push you, push you 'til she's satisfied
I watch the ice melt fast on her red hot lips
She whispers, 'If you wanna taste my love, why don't you swallow this?'"

in the blizzard of '77
the cars were just lumps on the snow
and then later
tripping in 7-11
the shelves were stretching out of control
on a plane ride
the more it shakes
the more i have to let go

Rise up, gather 'round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up, let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke

Rock on (Rock on)
Drive me crazier
No serenade, no fire brigade
Just the pyromania, come on

(What do ya want?) What do ya want?
(I want rock 'n' roll) Yes, I do
(Long live rock 'n' roll)

Wilco - Theologians:
I'm going away
Where you will look for me
Where I'm going you cannot come
No one's ever gonna take my life from me
I lay it down
A ghost is born

Pixies - Levitate Me:
Shaky shake, hey shaky
Levitate me
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you
Levitate me
Higher place
He kicked a baby

Breeders - Cannonball:
Spitting in a wishing well
Blown to hell, crash
I'm the last splash

Screaming Trees song Shadow of the Season off the album Sweet Oblivion.

Said, "Lord please give me what I need"
He said, "There's pain and misery"
Oh, sweet oblivion feels alright

Down vote away but because Dark Side is the up there with one of the most overplayed albums of all time and if I never hear Money again, I'll be ok.

Turnpike Troubadours - The Price of Admission

On the Red River

quote:

There's a mid-July whitetail in velvet
Red as your old Chevrolet
And I was sixteen when you wrecked it and we
Were lucky we both walked away
And you could day work and scrape out a living
The work for which you had been born
You were quick with a laugh and forgiving
And tied hard and fast to the horn
We had Kelpies and good Quarter Horses
We had wheat pasture yearlings tied down
We learned pain was the price of admission
And you're never done paying it down

Robert Earl Keen - A Bigger Piece of Sky

Paint the Town Beige

quote:

I gave up the fast lane for a blacktop county road
Just burned out on all that talk about the motherlode
I traded for a songbird, a bigger piece of sky
When I miss the good old days, I can't imagine why

We finally made a go
Got dealt a heavy blow
She said I'll bet you make it
It's a long way from your heart
