If you like high egg prices, you’ll love this about beef.

Several ranchers spoke out about this very thing. You will eat bugs and like it.

This is the USDA acting as a legislative body and passing laws for ranchers to follow, in direct defiance of the SCOTUS Chevron decision. This is the sole reason beef prices have stayed high, while chicken and pork have come down to pre-covid levels.

I'd be surprised if this position from the USDA continues. One word from Trump and Secretary Rollins takes care of this.

Yes. Sadly, there are people here who condescendingly scoff at the "crazy" notion that there really could be such evil entities as the Deep State or Globalism.
Hell, I had a fool mock me yesterday for simply mentioning the "Establishment" in Washington. Crazy times with some of these folks. God help them if they ever find out about Agenda 2030 and some other nefarious plans

The government always finds a way to add new taxes, and this ear tag rule looks like another way to make ranchers pay more. They say it is for tracking diseases, but it seems more like a way to control cattle and drive up beef prices. If there are fewer cows, beef costs more, and that pushes people toward food they do not really want. They call it helping the climate, but it is just more rules and less choice.
Ranchers have always dealt with rules, but this seems like a bigger plan to change what people eat. Whether that is the goal or just something that happens because of it, the result is the same. Beef will cost more, and regular people will struggle while the rich keep eating whatever they want.

I can tell you that cattle prices at auction last week were sky high. $2.90/lb live weight was the lowest we got. Nice checks for 600 lbs calves.

That wouldn't be permanent, Johnson needs to start changing laws or step before the GOPe throws the midterms.

I know the guy who invented the RFID ear tag. He was doing it for disease tracking. The government is the one fricking this up. Imagine that.

lol, you’re paying exponentially more per pound for that deer meat than you would for beef regardless of how this turns out.

past performance is not indicative of future results

Explain? I go shoot a deer, and process it in my kitchen into steaks, burger, and sausage. I might spend 50-60 dollars in supplies to get 60-80 lbs of meat. That’s nowhere near beef prices
