Vague suspicions: Are Zion's Agents laying the ground work for the offseason?

Shams had this to say on the McAfee show:

Now, this is obvious true. But that is now one of several ESPN personalities that has praised Zion in the past few days. And several of them have been highly critical in the past.

Well, its true that he has been playing great lately. And it could just be that, people taking notice of how good he looks.

But now...Tinfoil Hat time.

No one is actually watching us on the national stage because we stink. Why are they even spending time mentioning a team like us?

Shams works very closely with agents constantly to put out information. So do other ESPN personalities.

Could we be seeing the first opening salvo towards a summer where the Agents start the chatter with our FO about perhaps a move to greener pastures?

My suspicions are raised.

If we can get the right price i want him out. Especially if we luck into a top 2 pick

Zion is worth more than that 1.02 easily. Depending on how high you are on Flagg, you could argue the 1.01 is more valuable. I wouldn’t trade Zion for anything less than Luka or ANT.

No, he isn't. He easily could have been, and maybe he still can be, but there are guys out there leading their teams to finals while he hasn't played in the post-season.

Antonio Daniels said it best a few games ago: "If Zion played like this 70 games a year, he could be MVP." Unfortunately, he plays like that about 8 games a year if we're lucky.

Sorry, I meant trade him if we win the lottery or get the 2nd pick. Not trade him to get either of those picks.

A rumor was teams contacted Pels about Zion and Pels told everyone he wasn’t up for trade.

The much simpler explanation is 2 triple doubles got the media to look at Zion for the first time in months and realize he's quietly had a great season after returning from injury.

Even as much as the Benson Empire seems to embrace mediocrity, I can't see Griff being able to survive trading Zion unless he got a star back (or is lucky enough to draft one). I also don't see Griff getting fired this offseason. Therefore they aren't secretly trying to trade Zion using ESPN to prime the trade market 4 months in advance.

It make sense that they're reluctant. If you're getting rid of both Ingram and Zion in the same timeframe, you're pretty much blowing it all up and starting over. That means homegrown guys like Herb, Jose, and probably Murphy(at some point) will be gone since they wont be within the timeline of all of these incoming 18/19 year old kids in the next couple of seasons.

Allegedly Luka is worth AD and Max Christie. I’d rather Zion than AD. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

No one is fooled. Zion is still going to miss close to 40 games this year. I don't think he'd have any great value this summer, not until he can put together a strong full season while making strides in conditioning. He's putting up great number and staying healthy cause he playing less than 30mpg. But we are also losing cause he's playing so few minutes. For Zion to have great value, he's going to have to show that he can play 70+ games while playing 32-34 mpg.

I'd be tempted to send him to Brooklyn for a top 10 pick and an additional 1st. I think they might go for it if they fall out of the top 6. Plus we wouldn't have to take back any salary. They could even take Murray with him, without us taking on salary. That would be super tempting..

He needs to show he can play 35+ MPG at a high level before we consider him top 15.

Been saying since the offseason, rehab his value, some gm will salivate at the potential and give us a haul. And yall dumasses wanted to just trade him for peanuts or just outright waive him.

He can be great, but this isn’t the market for him. He will never realize his potential with us. Best for both parties to move on.

I was hoping he would show out like this and we could have got Doncic years ago. The gamble on Kyrie bought the Mavs a couple more years.

Griff isn't blowing everything up and doing a full rebuild. There's no way that Gayle could afford that. We have to try to be competitive next season.

Posters here should try to live in the real world.
