Finally something is being done.

U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy informed members of Congress on Thursday he has signed an agreement with the General Services Administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to cut 10,000 workers and billions of dollars from the U.S. Postal Service budget.

Hope the Bluebonnet Post Office staff got the axe. They’re pretty much worthless.

With everyone doing their bills on-line we probably only need 25% of the mail carriers.

Except all the junk mail, I checked my PO Box Tuesday and had 25 flyers from insurance, refi, Kroger, blah blah blah.

We need to end junk mail and save the billions delivering it and billions to process the trash it produces.

The SecCommerce's idea of having the USPS conduct the Census instead of several hundred thousand temporary workers is brilliant.

What is the one governmental agency that goes by your house every day?

(Well, some of us may have more than one on some days, I'm sure...)

Can they start at my local post office? They are some of the most inept creatures I've ever met.

None of this shite is going to matter until they cut defense, medicare/medicaid, or social security. We set a record for federal spending last month.

Why? Payroll taxes are funding these things. I understand they need reform but there are billions being wasted that are funded by income taxes. Start there.

Yes we alllll know this but wouldn’t you like to cut everywhere? Because even if it’s smaller it’s, wait for it, still a part of the deficit

USPS is just like most other federal agencies.

Used to be reliable and populated with people who had pride in their work and a sense of duty. Until the Dems turned it into a welfare program for union constituents to get on the government tit.

Should be target number 1 for the global warming crowd. You want to do something that would immediately decrease gas consumption and emissions make junk mail illegal.

Also pop up ads on porn.

Cut federal jobs and bring back private industry from countries exploiting slave labor, a winning combination.

USPS lost like $9 billion last fiscal year while a first class stamp cost 73 cents. Hmmm. something wrong.

Most of what you hear is true. It’s where they put people who absolutely could not work anywhere else. In ten years I’ve never seen anyone successfully disciplined much less fired. It’s literally a huge DEI program. I’ve seen people taken from processing(watching the machines run and stacking the trays) and put in charge of transportation. Over well qualified people. You can guess why. Almost every time. I love my job, but I have to admit this place needs a DOGE enema.

USPS employs over 600,000 people on the payroll.... plus an unknown/undisclosed number of contracted employees.. 10K emploee reduction is barely a papercut.

This is the number I was curious about. Geeze. 10,000 probably quit or do something to get fired with cause every month.
