Choices
https://www.businessinsider.com/single-mom-federal-worker-rto-day-care-costs-increase-2025-3

quote:

I'm a single mom who landed a remote federal job. My 5-day office return means paying more for day care.

quote:

It's not the highest salary that you can possibly get, but you work with really great people who want to do really good things for this country.

A federal job means a pension and really good benefits.

I would have taken this job if it wasn't fully remote, based on the salary bump. It's worth it.

More money than she was worth on the open market, especially with benefits.

quote:

Finally, I was going to have something stable for me and my children. In 2025, I just wanted to acclimate, rest, and enjoy what I finally got.

Cushy to boot

quote:

The RTO mandate is hard, but at this point, the biggest challenge is job stability and making sure I can provide for my children after my ex-husband and I separated in 2023.

She's very unhappy with the idea that if she wants to be a divorced single mom girl boss with a good job that's easy good paying, and has great benefits, that she will need to go to work.

It doesn't look like an excessive complaint.

She seems pretty accepting of the situation.

According to statistics she more than likely initiated the divorce.

Provide for her children huh. Did she mention in the article if the ex husband is paying for her mortgage, daycare or both? He is probably more affected by her RTO status

This is a separate class of society.

Repeatedly they say things that give insight into how out of touch with reality they are and they have no idea how ridiculous and entitled they sound.

Women who don’t go to work and want more freedom to sit at home with children either have a husband or get on welfare.

There are about 50 women that work where I work and I would say 20 of them are single moms. They make it work every day, I'm sure it isn't easy, but we all live with the choices we make.

Deal with it!

yeah stopped reading there. People work to get paid. This "public service" nonsense has to stop.

I think people generally have low expectations of federal employees/government workers, but the last couple of months have still managed to be eye opening.

It's amazing how people are convinced single moms are victims. No, they're just bad decision makers, they have children with bad men or they are the bad in the relationship that created the issue.

I don't think this is too much to ask in the richest Country on earth. But I bet this lady voted for the folk that are importing slave labor and driving up the price of everything.

Article doesn't say that.

Article doesn't say that either. She doesn't love paying thousands for daycare and it stresses her out as a single mom. I get that. And she doesn't come off as entitled or obnoxious.

We are here to serve the government bureaucracy. Of course it’s not the other way around?

Boo fkn who. Welcome to the reality of 95% of working Americans. I don't feel one bit of sorrow for her. Part of starting a family is making sacrifices for your kids and family. Cry harder mom!!
