Lafayette Breakfast/brunch options
Posted by tigerrage08 on 3/2/26 at 3:40 pm
We will be in Lafayette this weekend and were looking for a good breakfast/brunch option for Saturday morning. We have had Parish Biscuit before, and it was pretty good, but we are looking for other options that may be better. Thanks for any suggestions.

I can speak for Riviera Maya, especially Valentin. We went there in October 2025, and that was an absolutely amazing trip. Of course, we did not really want to leave the resort except for a day cruise to Isla Mujeres, which was awesome as well. We did book the cruise through Valentin.
The resort has everything you could want. There is the big pool where there are parties every day, and there is the float pool, which is very chill and pretty quiet.
The restaurants were the best I have ever experienced at any of the all-inclusives we have visited. The vibe and service were fantastic everywhere we went on the resort.
We did book the Prive' package, which we utilized daily, and it was worth it for us to spend the extra $900. That is something to look into if you choose that place.
We are looking to go back to Valentin again in 2027 if all works out.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Amy Hebert in Raceland is the first one that comes to mind for me. So heartbreaking.
quote:
Amy Hebert fatally stabbed her children and the family dog; Camille was aged 9 and Braxton was aged 7. Hebert told a psychiatrist that Camille had begged for her life.[1] The children had defensive wounds to their hands and arms;[11] Camille had about 30–35 stab wounds to the front of her torso while Braxton had about 50-55 stab wounds to his torso, with about 30 to the front and 20–25 to the back.[1] All of Camille's vital organs had been hit, and both victims had been stabbed in the heart.[11] Camille was also stabbed on her scalp about 30 times;[1] the blade did not penetrate her skull.[11] Amy Hebert also stabbed herself about 30 times, giving herself wounds in the abdomen, chest, neck, and wrists

Because Ole Miss was never familiar with these types of records before LK.

Came here just to downvote the title. For Christ sakes, we are 4 games in. CJJ will have this under control soon enough. It is an experiment at this point. Kick rocks.

Guys, I have no idea what type of scotch he likes. I really appreciate the replies so far.
Good Scotch
Posted by tigerrage08 on 2/13/26 at 8:56 am
Looking for a decent scotch that will not break the bank. I had one of my IT guys do an hour or two of work for me at my house, and he wouldn't take any cash. He is into scotch, and I would like to get him a bottle that I can find at my local Rouses pretty easily. I know nothing about scotch; I am more of a bourbon drinker. Any help is appreciated.

You can also buy the vacuum bag holders, which help minimize the mess.
re: North Georgia Recommendations
Posted by tigerrage08 on 2/11/26 at 1:39 pm to TxWadingFool
The north GA area is great. As mentioned, Dahlonega is a neat town to visit and walk around the square. His and Hers was filmed there. You would only need about half a day.
Amicalola Falls State Park is great, but make sure the roads are open. The hotel at the top has million-dollar views, and there is a paved hike to a beautiful waterfall.
Wolf Mountain Vineyards is a nice place to grab a glass of wine if that is your thing, with spectacular views.
Helen is not really worth the trip in my opinion, it is a tourist trap with numerous shops and few below average restuarants and bars.

Hernando's Pizza pub has really good pizza, and don't sleep on Fraser Valley Hot Dogs. These hot dogs were great for a quick lunch meal that was something different. You can put damn near anything imaginable on the hot dog. Deno's is good also as mentioned.
If you head to Granby, Brickhouse 40 was also pretty good.
Hot sulfur springs Resort was a pretty neat trip, where you can go soak in natural sulfur spring pools for a few hours. It was about a 45-minute drive.

re: What are you giving up for Lent?
Posted by tigerrage08 on 2/10/26 at 8:43 am to VolsOut4Harambe
Alcohol, I did last year, and it was a nice change. I was never a heavy drinker, but giving it up last year had me slow down even more in the non lenten months.
