Dear diary,
I want a Chinese BYD car/suv that’s more reliable with features well ahead of its time at half the price of the crap I can get here in the US.
So why protect the US auto industry from itself? They let us down before the bailout and have let us down again by going back to becoming unreliable shite boxes.

I recently heard this talking point about Chinese cars. Why are the Chinese suddenly able to design and make cars that aren’t pieces of crap compared to everything else they make ?

Nothing from China can be trusted. That said, US auto companies are not very good. They are screwing the consumer. I would welcome competitors. But not from China. Nothing from China can be trusted.

Their new hybrids cost as little as $14k. At that price, anything Chevy-ish and above is a good deal as far as quality.

If the Chinese cars are anything like Teslas where they can essentially disable your vehicle remotely, I'd be weary of introducing them in mass in the US.

The 1970s were peak junk production years for US auto manufacturers, but things haven’t improved much since, and any improvements are accidental.
